![]() It's morning when the lights go out completely. Not a single one remains on except the glow of the device and whatever flashlights anyone bothered to stock up on. However, a single hologram in the Shopping District broadcasts along a billboard for a Very Important Announcement. After that, you hear a song so tender and beautiful that it must have been composed by angels at the dawn of time. "Baby, you light up my world like nobody else. The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed… " When you go outside to investigate, a friendly clown will be inside a stolen(?) ice cream truck, looking to get all your attention before he talks through the speaker on the truck.

Welcome to CEREALIA's fourth official event. For your convenience, we have compiled an OOC post explaining the event in greater detail. Feel free to ask questions there if you have anymore lingering concerns or inquiries. |

I've been keeping indoors most of the time. They've been rampaging all over the place, but... it's easier to fend them off when you've got a base.
[He pointedly doesn't mention his couple of run-ins, the ambush, or the death. And, even if he feels less uneasy, he does still have his hunting knife on him (and a few more things tucked beneath clothes for good measure).]

[ Big as the colony may be, the apartment complex is probably the first place they're going to head to. Naturally, everyone would want to congregate somewhere familiar and where they have most of their supplies. Even Nine knows that much because it's the sort of thing he'd think of if he were on the hunt for lanterns. The other place would be the supermarket, he guesses, so he probably shouldn't stick around all that long in this pace.
But first, he's stocking up on food. He's starving and not living off meager rations. He's a growing boy here. ]
Besides, you got to come out some time to get stuff, so you'd be abandonin' your base anyway.
[ Who knows what could have followed him here, but the coast looks clear so far. Either way, Nine's lance isn't too far, and he's always ready for action. ]

[He rubs at his forehead absently with his thumb, glancing over at the words. A small smile quirks up his lips and he shakes his head.]
I didn't leave it unguarded. [He did learn a few sound traps and otherwise that he learned how to make back in Haven.] Besides that, I have someone who lives with me, so he's going to keep an eye on it while I'm gone.

[ He gestures to the light around his neck, intent on keeping it safe for the time being. He has a feeling the kind of person who'd go around slaughtering everyone else here to just get home is probably not someone who deserves to go home anyway. Besides, game or not, he still doesn't like losing a fight.
Like hell is he going to go down that quickly. ]
A lot of people out there didn't see things the same way and just started attackin' at the first sign. Just who are those clown-guys anyway? You know anything about them?
[ He's never seen or heard from them before. Maybe he ought to do some closer looking in this place when it's not a war zone. He hasn't exactly been taking the patrolling thing seriously without Kurasame around to keep him in line. ]

I don't know... but it's hard to call them normal people. Normal people don't act in the way that they do, just... attacking at the first sign, like you said.
[He combs his fingers over his hair.] I don't know if they're people from this city, or from outside it. All I can say is that they're dangerous enemies.

[ They're quite hard to avoid, especially with the way they've been practically banding together to jump whoever tramples into their path. He's not necessarily afraid of them. Just annoyed that they've devised this stupid game that may yield nothing to the end. The fact that people are even falling for it is pissing him off, too. Who would give into the demands of a bunch of lying psychopaths?
Even Nine has better sense than that. If he's going to head back, it'll be on his own terms. He's not turning on any of the people he knows to do it. ]
Why don't we try unmaskin' one of them and gettin' some information out of them? They'd be willin' to talk once we start beatin' it out of them. Just send me to the perp!
[ He'll get them talking no matter what it takes. He wants to know what this game business is about, and it's probably part of his job or something to that effect, being a patrol officer and all. Not that he really pays much attention to his duties most of the time. ]

[Hinata's voice is hesitant, though he's not against trying to gain information. It's just when those people are so crazed, so wanting a fight, maybe there's nothing left in their heads, just like those people who'd fall to despair.
His world's been there at the back of his mind for a while, ever since this all began. It's too similar.]
I mean, if they're desperate enough to risk their lives against some of us to try and get these lanterns... [They might be prepared to die. Even if there're methods of torture-- ah, no, no, he's not going to let his mind stray that far yet.]
no subject
We'll never know unless we do it first. Can't just let 'em run wherever they feel like it and keep slayin' people left and right.
[ It's not like CERES is doing anything about it. Those police robots always disappear conveniently when they need them the most, so they're the ones who got to stand up and do something. ]
If you don't wanna get your hands dirty, then leave it to me. I'll take care of them.
no subject
No, you're right. We don't know for sure... and we may as well give it our best shot, even if it fails. We can say that we tried, at least.
[So many things could go wrong, though, back in that place. If we tried something... the likelihood that we'd die... ah, well, I can't say for sure this place is different, but if I wanna get further I gotta risk it.]
It'll be safer with more than one person anyway.
no subject
[ They don't look that impossible to capture anyway. Nine's managed to get away from a few fights relatively unscathed, and their abilities seem pretty limited from what he can see. He's run into worse things that threatened to wipe him and Class Zero out plenty of times, so this will be a cinch.
He grabs another loaf among the pile of stale ones and swings it over his shoulder like how he normally holds his lance, and he pauses to give Hinata a short wave. ]
See ya for now!
no subject
[Hinata turns, following Nine with his eyes and his head, shifting to watch him as he starts to walk off. He lifts his own hand with a brief wave after him.]
Yeah! Be careful out there.
[DON'T GET SHANKED]
