![]() It's morning when the lights go out completely. Not a single one remains on except the glow of the device and whatever flashlights anyone bothered to stock up on. However, a single hologram in the Shopping District broadcasts along a billboard for a Very Important Announcement. After that, you hear a song so tender and beautiful that it must have been composed by angels at the dawn of time. "Baby, you light up my world like nobody else. The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed… " When you go outside to investigate, a friendly clown will be inside a stolen(?) ice cream truck, looking to get all your attention before he talks through the speaker on the truck.

Welcome to CEREALIA's fourth official event. For your convenience, we have compiled an OOC post explaining the event in greater detail. Feel free to ask questions there if you have anymore lingering concerns or inquiries. |

I... I'll go. I think this time will be a little easier without something to drop. Uh, besides ourselves, I mean.

As long as you'll be all right... I'll stay over the ledge this time in case you need help.
[With arms held down, that is, so she'll have something to grab hold of.]

[ She flashes a smile and heaves herself over the edge. Her feet dangle off it as she tries to gauge where the ground is beneath her, but for all she knows it could be ten feet down or fifty. Mary takes a deep breath and clasps her hands around the pipe.
Having the good sense to put on sneakers when the lights started to go out, she eases herself down the pole with her feet against the wall. Mary's in full concentration mode as she climbs down, waiting in between each small slide to listen for anything. It sounds quiet and she doesn't hear any footsteps, so she continues onward.
The closer she gets to the ground the more anxious she feels. For all she knows, someone could be standing there with a weapon, waiting to kill her and take her lantern.
Her throat feels tight.
She nearly trips when she reaches the bottom because she doesn't suspect it to be so close and catches herself before she falls on her ass. As she takes a look around, she doesn't see any shadowy figures waiting to get them. She listens again for anything that might be nearby, but when she figures the coast is clear she looks up.
It's hard to see Kaoru all the way up there. Even so, she taps her fingernails against the pipe to signal that she's down on the ground. ]

It's significantly more difficult to do the grapple-down method that Mary had chosen while wearing a dress though, so Kaoru just uses upper arm strength alone to scale downward, feet barely touching the wall. Once almost within the range that Kaoru estimates Mary can see, the pipe is released and there is one (1) nerd demon dropping to the ground. The landing could normally be stuck without any noise at all, but Kaoru makes sure to land somewhat heavily so that it sounds less elegant and more like the pipe had been let go of too early.]
Ah— [A quiet noise of surprise; Kaoru teeters briefly like the fall had been a balance-sacrificing one, but doesn't actually topple over. Once righted, Mary gets a whispered:] Are you all right?
no subject
Yeah, I'm good. I almost tripped not realizing how close the ground was.
How about you? It sounds like you jumped a little too early... [ She walks just an inch or two closer, lowering her voice even more. ] You didn't hurt your ankle or anything?
no subject
It's a little sore, but I'm still able to put my weight on it... But you didn't trip, then?
no subject
Nah, my landing was pretty solid. [ She looks over her shoulder at the currently empty streets. Mary breathes a sigh of relief. ] So... guess we gotta figure which way to go now? Or how to avoid those clowns.

[It's a bit of a risk, but not as risky as sticking around in a shady back alley...]
