White Devil Rising [Open]
Who: Nanoha
zenryokuzenkai & You!
When: 7th January / 20th May
Where: Ceres Game Center
What: Nanoha's blowing off some steam
Rating/Warning: Mild fantasy violence
Nanoha had two major hobbies that she indulged in when away from friends and family. The first was flying, inadvisable within city limits, (and there was no known way out of the city,) and really not the same without an open sky. The second was mock battles: most of the excitement of real battles without disturbing the peace! When she was a military instructor on Mid-childa, putting assorted rookies through the wringer was quite fortunately part of her job, but here it was just a game. Quite the game, but still just a game. A way to relieve stress, and there was no stress like having all your family and friends presumed dead, and being partly responsible for putting everything ever back together.
“Divine...” Raising Heart announced, a pink sphere of energy forming at the tip of the staff, pointed at the wave of creepy crawlies before it, the theme of this stage looking to be a bugpocalypse of some kind. Two cartridges were loaded into the device, shells falling a long way to the ground as the flying mage quickly charged her attack.
“BUSTER!” Nanoha and Raising Heart finished in unison, blasting a huge hole through enemy lines, a strong opener that would set the tone for the rest of the level. She was on something of a hot streak, winning several games in a row convincingly, as she dove into each match with near abandon, blasting her way through most enemies like a hot knife through butter.
The match eventually comes to a close, and the streak is defended as Nanoha shakes off the headgear, sweat falling freely from her brow. Could she have won with a little less excess? Probably, but winning was hardly the point. She was really here to cause damage in a safe environment, indulging in one of the few joys she had left.
“Hey, are you just here to watch, or will you be joining in the next match?”

"So, are you up for one more?" She asked as she put the headset back on.
no subject
"Sure, why not. But, ahh, try not to go too crazy with the fancy laser beam, okay? I like keeping my.....life." He puts the headset back on, watching the fancy animations dance around before the world digitizes before him.
"Okay, so what're we up against now?" He stretches in place, waiting for the enemies to come out. Though his two jade green eyes are already darting everywhere for places he can pass and gain advantages.

Donning her Barrier Jacket and taking to the air once she loaded fully into the game, Nanoha scanned the battlefield with a trained eye, looking out for the number and type of enemies they would be facing.
"It looks like a team battle against assorted aliens? I can spot a flying saucer of some kind at the far side of the stage, and... woah!" Nanoha was cut off by a massive bolt of plasma impacting against her barrier. It fizzled out and she got away mostly unharmed, but it was not something she cared to deal with again. Could she get through with fancier flight and tougher shields? Perhaps, but it was not like there was any reason to risk the game, right?
"Spotted some big-headed grey men, tall skinny ones, bigger lizardmen, and an assortment of robots. All with what look like plasma guns of some kind." Nanoha reported as she cut her altitude until she was barely hovering over the ground. "It looks like a much harder scenario than the last one, so I'll be going in low without attracting too much enemy fire."

"Aliens, lizard people, robots....It sounds like a plot line for a Saturday morning cartoon." He huffs, unsure if he should feel disappointed or exasperated. Maybe a little of both.
"So what's the plan?" Well, he already has a plan but he wants to see what she can do.

"And if we're talking about the classics, in a situation like this, the tactic you'll find in field manuals is to slowly sweep forward, using cover to your advantage and engaging the enemy as many small squads. Charge ahead and you'll find yourself in the middle of an entire army, and that's a recipe for failure!" Special forces everywhere basically operated the same way. Isolate and destroy, keeping a low profile for as long as possible and taking out the enemy before even being spotted if possible.
Not that a flying mage who shot bright pink beams was the sort of person who defaulted to subtlety, but it was fun to change things up every so often.

He whistles, impressed by explanation but still uncertain about how effective it would be. "You sounded like some kind of military captain or somethin'! Pretty neat." He draws the sword at his hip, the light revealing it's beat up and worn appearance. The sad imitation is much to feeble to keep up with Richter's sword style, but it should last him for the match he thinks.
"So, cover. Maybe we head down that alley over yonder, yeah?" He points with the sword to a nearby alley, his instincts already kicking in.
ViViD: Enemy Unknown
"That alley has good cover. It might be difficult to hit things with a sword zig-zagging towards the enemy, but safety is the most important thing, right?" She dashed to where Trevor pointed, rather pleased with the whole situation. Promising young talent was actually one of her favourite things, just behind omelette rice with funny pictures drawn in ketchup.
Peeking out from behind cover, Nanoha spotted the first group of enemies: A trio of little grey men with small plasma pistols. Easy enough. She summoned one pink orb of light for each target and fired them off, the shots curving around the corner and knocking them out before they knew what had hit them, with only a whisper of "Axel Shooter" from Raising Heart.

"Say Miss Takamichi, those three. They're scouts right? I mean, there's only three of them. Wouldn't that mean that there'd be a large group somewhere behind them?"
At the moment, one of the radios that the alien was carrying started to static and incoherent alien babble started coming through. It doesn't take a genius to figure out someone is checking with them.
no subject
"But well, that's just thing from the field manual. You have to be flexible on the battlefield. What do you think, Trevor?"
no subject
He's still impressed, but in hindsight, he should have really taken the lead. He would have just let that group pass by and sneak past the larger one.
"I think we want to be quiet now." He says as he crouches down, pulling her to crouch behind him while he studies the group.

"Let's see what you can do, then."
no subject
Once. He did that once, and it will never happen again.
For now he played by the rules he knows, grabbing Nanoha's hand and leading her back the way they came. Once out in the street, he spots exactly what he was looking for, a parked car across the alley. "Keep an eye out, tell me if any of them come this way." Making his way to the car, he breaks open the cover of the gas cap, removing it. After, he goes into a nearby boutique store and brought with him a scarf, which he shoves into the gas, and other clothes. With his back turned to Nanoha he cast a simple spell to ignite the scarf and ran back to her with the other clothes in tow, grabbing her hand and dragging her back to the alley then pulling her down to crouch down next to the dumpster then throwing the clothes to cover them.
"Cover your ears." A few minutes pass, then eventually a deafening explosion goes off, catching the attention of the aliens who rush over there, ignoring them in the process. He peeks out of their cover and pulls her again, running swiftly across the street and into the next alley.
"That is the only time I'll be able to do that. One more and they might just pick up our trail."
no subject
"If you need to make things explode later, I can do that for you, but let's keep moving!"
no subject
"I think we can take it easy for now." He takes a quick look around, checking the corners for any enemies before he plops down on the ground. He's not really tired, but saving energy is never a bad thing.
"How far are we from the big alien? Can you see?"
no subject
"So? What do you want to do? Smoke them out? Rush in? Sneak through the saucer?"
no subject
But, video game. Truth be told he's not entirely certain how to attack a space ship, who does really, so he is out of his territory.
"I have no clue. I'm armed with a medieval weapon fighting against a digital alien race. And I'm a musician by profession, I'm a little over my pay grade."
He's also a vigilante magic knight when he needs to be.
"What say you lead the charge and I'll try to keep up."
no subject
"I'm going to open a path to the boss! That's going to attract the attention of all the enemies we sneaked past, so we'll have to move quickly! Hit them with your full power, at full throttle!" This was, to Nanoha, the best tactic. Anything else would open up the opportunity for their enemies to call reinforcements back before they could get close. This made sure the enemy knew where they were, and so a much stricter time limit, but at least they would start close!
"Start running now, I'll catch up! Blaster 1!" She announced, and anyone sensitive to such things would be able to feel the surge of magical energy that suddenly coursed through Nanoha. A three-stage module that let magi go over their usual limits temporarily in exchange for an increased strain on their bodies, that was the Blaster System. A limit break that was most fitting for a boss fight!
"Divine..." Nanoha dug her heels deep into the concrete, a magic circle forming around her feet as she charged up. The tip of Raising Heart was pointed straight at the alien spaceship, the infamous sphere of pink energy already growing as cartridges were fired off, each ka-thunk merely adding to its power.
"BUSTER!" She finished, letting rip the huge beam, which ripped through the cool, (albeit digital,) night air and crashed straight through the outer wall of the spacecraft. Not content to stop there, the beam travelled on, blasting through a series of shields and walls of various thickness until the core of the saucer was exposed to the outside world, revealing the boss upon his throne.
It was not a very impressive physical specimen, tall but far too thin, grey with a head slightly too large to be normal, dressed in a robe that hung loosely off it. If there was anything that made it dangerous, it would surely have to be some form of psychokinetic or telepathic power. That, and the half-dozen elite fighters surrounding it armed with scary looking plasma rifles.
I kind of wanted to shoot all the way through the spaceship, but looks like it was a bit too tough. Let's go! The mage sent telepathically to her ally as she kicked into the air. All their attention is on me now, so I doubt I'll be able to take the time to properly charge another big blast, so I'll support you!
And as if on cue, a series of much smaller magic bullets flew out from behind her, raining down upon the enemy as a form of suppressing fire.
