a: tech & auto shop
[ If Tadashi wanted to make better pet robots, he felt like he needed to check out who actually buys the CYbuddies.
He dedicates a couple of hours of his day to stay at the store and talk to whomever's around. Were you checking that robot dinosaur? He'll probably be interrupting you in your thoughts. ]
Did you know that birds descended from a type of dinosaurs known as theropods? [ He looks absolutely eager as he says it, too. Then he quickly realises that he was interrupting, and he immediately takes a step back. ]
Right. Sorry, you were shopping.
[ Good going, nerd. ]
b: residential district
[ Normally, he's just cooped up in his apartment, working on some tech, playing video games, reading books, or studying. But since he just finished a scanner of sorts, he decides to test this in an actual public place. It's pretty difficult to test something like it in his apartment, so he may as well go out.
Tadashi can be found seated on a bench at the local park. He has a five of these bird-like machines by his feet. No, he's not feeding them. Beside him is a tablet, a toolbox, and some other trinkets he uses for inventing. Hamada brothers rule #457 states that Hamada Brothers only show their work to the outside world when it's ready. Tadashi feels ready… so. . . you know. Hopefully these bird things work. ]
Okay, the scanners work fine. . . [ He mumbles to himself, clicking on some things on another tablet he's holding. ] Alright, guys.
Fly.
[ The birds start flapping their metal wings, and slowly take off from the ground. They circle around Tadashi for a bit before going off in various directions. They're pretty high up in the sky now, and swoop down later on when Tadashi calls for them.
Although their landing ends up glitchy. Four of them land perfectly by Tadashi's feet, but it looks like one isn't working quite well. Is that bird heading towards you? Yes. Duck? Duck! Or get by a small robot bird. Either way, its inventor is running towards the bird's supposed victim. ]
Oh man, sorry about that! They were supposed to be ready.
c: ceres game center
[ Tellus seems to be a world that's so much different from where he's from. There's a lot of things that are similar, sure, but the history sure is vastly different. Not to mention, the popular games and franchises sure are unfamiliar!
Pockyman, Last Legend, Thief's Creed, Academy Superstar Fiesta — needless to say, these titles are absolutely interesting. Tadashi holds up a case and strikes a conversation. ]
Any recommendations? I've got a console at home that's waiting to be used.
[ Sure, he could spend his nights building something, but he has a life. Sort of. Life nerding out and playing video games, yes… Definitely. ]
d: anything goes!
[ Tadashi usually spends his day at the tech and auto shop, and his afternoons at a local cafe nearby. During the evening, he'll be at his apartment… feel free to bother him; destroy his door by "accident", deliver pizza, what have you. ]
B! dead older brothers joke goes here
So he isn't annoyed, no, he's in fact pleasantly surprised by it. He's even laughing.]
This thing is yours? [Bird tucked in a cold hand, Jack flies to meet Tadashi, perching on the back of the bench before handing the little robot back to its owner (sorry about that frost on metal).] The flying was fine, they need to practice the landing. That's always the hard part.
[He would know.]
starts crying
[ THIS GUY IS FLYING— Tadashi just gawks for a couple of seconds before he's swooped back into reality. RIGHT, OKAY. This guy is flying??? That's hella cool. Maybe he really should make those rocket launcher boots so he can do the same.
Aside from it being a cool invention, he doesn't really see a need for making it, though. Lame. ]
Thanks. [ He looks at the bird in his hands. Boy, it sure has gotten a bit cold in here. Then back at Jack, ] I definitely need to watch more bird videos, then.
The others landed fine. [ To which he gestures to the rest of the flock, who are right next to him by now. They're pretty lifeless despite being up in the air with the wind earlier. ] This one, though...

[so was Scuttlebutt's cry as she reacted how Scuttlebutt always reacted.
Falling to her knees and dropping under her box.
MAYBE IT'D HIT HER ANYWAY? Or maybe not.]
no subject
Tadashi did hear a voice though, and it came from the box? When he picks up his robobird, he tries to pull the box up from the edge that's closest to him. ]

After another slow blink, he'll move his head carefully to one shaped like a bird. . . maybe a toucan or some sort of tropical bird . . .
. . . and then he'll point at it and . . . wait. He's definitely waiting for something.]
no subject
South American tribal societies believe toucans are incarnations of evil spirits and demons? [ Now he even sounds unsure! He knows about that piece of trivia, but he can't help but feel like he's shrinking because of Gintoki's... piercing gaze. . . ]

When he looks up slowly, lowering his hands from his head, he sees someone running toward him now, paying no attention to his dog's continued attempts to catch the bird.]
Ready to attack, is that it? [Edgeworth turns to look for the robotic bird and finds it still flying out of range of snapping jaws and waving paws.]
no subject
... Maybe he should build some sort of remote that he can use when they start going haywire. But that isn't an awesome invention. It hinges more on safety than anything else, and what's the point of making things when you're afraid of taking risks?
He lets out a sigh of relief when he lands, but quickly jumps when the dog starts pawing at him instead. ]

C | I honestly have no idea if ViViD is actually in this building TIME TO ASSUME
anyway it feels like it makes sense]]Hmm?
[Gongenzaka might have been a touch distracted, himself, staring not so much at the main rack of games but instead at the prize counter for ViViD's own currency. It seems that there's a good deal of other games there too, perhaps ones that are even more familiar to Tadashi--
Though Gongenzaka seemed to have been focusing on a set of cards. At any rate, the tall one turns, blinking at the case in the other's hands.] Ahh...
[He coughs.] Unfortunately, I, the man Gongenzaka, cannot offer much advice there...
[............................] Though, if you were interested in dueling, that would be another story... [
holographic cards tadashi go go goHe's totally not hinting at anything there. ]it's prob?? in the same building LET'S JUST GO WITH IT
[ He immediately thinks of bot fighting, WHICH ISN'T SOMETHING HE APPROVES OF. Still, it makes him curious. He sets down the case of the game he was holding and approaches Gongenzaka, eager to hear more of these duels. If he's from San Fransokyo, then that's actually pretty awesome. At least he'll feel slightly less alone in this place.
Holographic cards would surely be his thing, though. Prepare. ]
I hope you don't mean robots duking it out.

At the very least, you could tell me what a theropod is.
[ she's going to set down the robodino in her other hand before facing him fully, completely expecting a full explanation. ]
no subject
And he was going to excuse himself, but Hawke seems??? interested??? That's good! He's not being dismissed as a nerd (that's what his brother would do), or laughed at (again, it's something his brother would do...) ]
Oh, sure! [ Easing into the conversation, he nods, and holds up his index finger as he explains the rest, ] Theropods are a group of dinosaurs. Bipedal and carnivorous— have you heard of the t-rex? It's a theropod.
[ He sure just didn't relax. He's definitely into this conversation now. ]

[Nanoha was poking around the selection of Cybuddies, yes, but today she was also dragging her Fortress and Strike Cannon in a cart behind her.]
It's fine, it's fine. I needed to talk to someone from the shop anyway. You are working here right? I need to see if anyone can maintain my Raising Heart and Fortress.
no subject
He walks to where the cart is and bends so he can inspect it better. ]
Is this some kind of shield? [ It looks familiar, at least. Though it seems like something you would equip to a robot, rather than wielding it yourself. ]

[But not Maya. She's already been attacked by Taka, and she's had enough. This bird bullying ends now!]
TAKE THAT!
[And she's going to jump at it and... try to hold on, like she's hitching a ride?! Surely this will work out well for everyone.]
no subject
Then again, it's not very high. The bird is up about six feet high in the air.
Tadashi skids to a stop as he waves both his hands up, trying to grab the bird's attention. He didn't exactly install an AI on them, so talking to them would be moot, but he does it anyway. ]
Hey, calm down— [ god, now the bird almost hit him with Maya, so he moves out of the way. ]

I don't have any. None of these titles are familiar to me.
no subject
It doesn't ruin Tadashi's mood in the slightest, though. He tries again, ]
Same here. I mean, I guess the gameplay will be similar to the ones I've played at home, [ He's never heard of ViVid until he arrived, though its mechanics are easy to figure out since he's played a lot of games when he was younger. ] but I'm really not familiar with these titles. . .

Gah--- [Ducking away, Cliffjumper's already whipping around towards whatever-it-is, his reflexive grab almost crushing the poor thing. But he manages to just snag it as he realises at the last moment it's harmless. So there's a nine foot tall alien robot frowning at the bird-like drone when Tadashi catches up.]

Gah! [Chibi portals the little bird away from himself and in the other direction; it flops gracelessly to the ground. Its inventor, of course, isn't long after it; baby birds can generally fly a little better than this before they leave their nest...]
No, no, it's not a problem. I've messed up on a few inventions, in my time. [He grins and bends down to look at where the bird has crashed. The delicate metal feathers have bent, warped surfaces glinting in the ambient light, but it's certainly not beyond repair.] It just seems that one might be a bit off-balance - you notice how it veered to the left before crashing? The others landed fine, so it's not a design flaw, but check the motors in its wings, maybe.
no subject
I'll be sure to do that, [ His attention now on Chibi. ] Thanks for the advice.
