[ Thankfully pain isn't an issue here, it's more that his "bone" is fractured enough that if he stands on it... it'll just give out. That's something no one wants when trying to run away from crazy people, that's for sure. ]

Ah... In the power point upon arrival, surely they mentioned the Nexus Code, yes? That they rescue us from this code - that they pull our code into the city from there. Though we are certainly real, they would have us believe that our true bodies were likely destroyed. In that sense, we are every bit as much a technological advancement as our surroundings.

[It's still a little beyond Kaoru's understanding despite being around for so long, but at least the explanation's gotten easier to give over the months.]

[ Once they're outside there's a barrage of fire, swords and arrows. He manages to react quickly enough by raising his arm and yelling out "Shieldan" which covers them with a nice reflective barrier while his hand is held up there. When there's a break his hand slams down though, using a stunning spell to send them all flying through the air.

No one seems to be waking up anytime soon at least, though it probably looks like a couple have cracked their heads open pretty hard and are bleeding all over the floor. Ah. ]

But why this? Not the "why" at being upset about how he's a friendless robohobo but why at the fact that they're shooting at them now. (Though she's allowed to be sad for him even if Genos doesn't see how.)

When did all of them get guns/firearms in the first place?! Genos isn't even going to get upset and instead stops singing and makes sure that Maya isn't going to get hit by any stray bullets/arrows/whatever have you. ]

[It sounds like she doesn't remember, which lifts a wait over his shoulders. He looks more relieved, and he softly shakes his head. But he is a little nervous as he responds.

Ah... No reason! I just - I wondered if anyone could remember what it's like after disappearing, and thought I'd test it! [But that's not the whole truth. And that would make a good number of psychelocks appear.]

[ He's quiet for a long moment while he makes the path safe for them, only this time when he looks back at her he definitely looks a little... miffed at how she's not listening to him. ]

I am Merlin! [ Maya please... Though honestly she isn't wrong. Despite having amples of power he often wastes it to do his chores because he's too lazy to do them himself.
