[Naoki'd like to meet the scientist who'd be able to figure out the magatama--]

I dunno how much of it is science, but hey, might be cool if he could figure out something about it. [Much of it and, well, his own body is a mystery, even to him.]

[rebelia]

[IV knows even less about it, but V's always had a knack for finding explanations for the strangest things. How different can this be?]

"Science" is a broad field when it comes to V. If he ever shows up, I'll ask him.

[masakados]

[IV and V, huh...]

If nothing else, it'd be interesting.

[rebelia]

[Probably. Maybe V would find it fascinating, even.]

That's my older brother. On the other hand, my little brother is into history.

[masakados]

So you guys are covering a lot between you, huh.

[Are either of them into the occult-- no, he's not going to ask that.]

[rebelia]

[He should definitely ask that.]

We don't step on each other's toes this way. We may be brothers, but we're not exactly alike.

[masakados]

I don't have friends with siblings or anything but... I figured. You're each your own person.

[He grins, shrugging one shoulder.]

[rebelia]

That's right.

[He looks ahead with faint fondness. Out of the three of them, perhaps he's the most different brother.]

Is there anything else you wanted to know?

[masakados]

Sure, lots. I'd keep you smalltalking for ages, if you let me.

[But, snorting at himself, he gestures with a hand.] But we're getting close. Guess today we ended up lucky.

[No spooks... Yet.]

[rebelia]

[It's true. They've yet to encounter anything. On second thought, that stirs suspicion in IV, and he glances around their visible surroundings.]

If you'd call this "lucky" . . . Well, I suppose it's the best we could have hoped for here.

[masakados]

[Nothing trying to kill them is "lucky" in Naoki's book okay-- Naoki's steps slow and he looks around too.

And because we can't have them go completely un-spooked, something cold elicits shivers along Naoki's back and he stiffens in preparation for a blow. But there's nothing, just a cold feeling like he walked through a patch of frigid air.]

And I'd sure like it if it just stayed like this. [Muttering to the air...]

[rebelia]

[With so little else to see, Naoki's going rigid doesn't escape IV's limited vision. He gives Naoki an inquisitive look. The following mutter doesn't seem to match what he just saw.]

Something wrong?

[masakados]

Just got a bad feeling.

[But things are quiet around them and nothing seems to be happening... Naoki's not quick to chalk it up to his imagination, but still, nothing immediately comes swooping down on them or anything.]

[rebelia]

If you got a bad feeling, it must mean something.

[No sooner after he says this does a whisper seem to pass through his ears. It's a suspicious, strange sound that doesn't seem to have come from Naoki. IV scowls.]

. . . Did you say something?

[masakados]

Nope.

[The back of his neck is prickling... Naoki rolls his shoulders, eyes narrowing and the fire growing larger in his hand.]

I think we can assume we're not alone here.

[rebelia]

[IV's eyes narrow as it goes quiet. Even when he focuses, the whisper is no longer there.]

It's close. But where is it?

[masakados]

Feels like there's more than just one it.

[Naoki's lips thin in a frown.] It feels like it's coming from there, and there... [Each time, he gestures with his hand.]

[rebelia]

[It figures that, no matter how hard he looks in the direction of Naoki's gesturing, IV still sees nothing.]

Tch. Whatever it is, it's stopped for now. Let's get out of here.

[Unless Naoki has another plan to propose, this seems like the most logical course of action.]

[masakados]

[Nope, let's high-tail it out of here, silly hair buddy.]

I'm gonna tell you, it hasn't gone. I'm pretty sure there's something around like a spirit. Or a few spirits.

[His pace is a bit quicker than before, mostly out of (hidden) concern for IV there. If there are bad ghosts about, no good for him to get tangled up in them.]

[rebelia]

[Agreed, silly markings buddy.]

If it's just spirits, I don't care.

[That's to say, he doesn't fear what he can't see. Still, he sense that their pace has gone up a notch and matches Naoki's speed.]

What I don't get is what they want. Is it our souls?

[masakados]

...If they want 'em, they're not really trying to take 'em.

[He comments, after a moment.]

[rebelia]

Then what is it?

[IV knows it's likely a rhetorical question, the way things are in the literal dark.]

So far, all anything's done is try to spook us. When are they going to do something?

[masakados]

Maybe that's all it's trying to do? [he says, even though his tone is doubtful.

Naoki's too used to most things that aren't human trying to kill him or otherwise to buy into his own words. Still, there's no denying that absolutely nothing's happening besides these little creepy spooks.]

[rebelia]

[And nothing continues to happen as they make haste, covering the rest of the short distance in no time. The suspense of anticipating their next appearance has IV on edge, and he's visibly annoyed. The irritation is also there in his tone.]

Are they still around?

[masakados]

Yep. I don't think they're going away.

...But I think they're further back, so maybe they've found someone else they're going to bother a while. [Naoki frowns and looks back over his shoulder as though seeking out the sense with his eyes.]
