Zero
[Something like that is the polite way to say no, so Armin accepts it and doesn't press his luck. In his native language it sounds even stranger. Best to let it be.]
Do you know the way?
Mika
"No."
With teeth link that, however, he can imagine that vampires must have a need to tear flesh from time to time. The topic being introduced by the other man makes it easier. It's an opening to ask.
"What does it mean?"
no subject
So he's a little taken aback by that level-headed response, and at a loss as to the best way to explain.
"It means I'm a monster that drinks human blood."
When in doubt, revert to cynacism, apparently.

...this thread keeps reminding me I need to catch up on AoT manga XD
it is pretty intense lately! well it always was but It Got Worse.
Yeah I think I just got tired of how drawn out the plot arc I was on at the time was getting...
it's probably past that part now!
It's been almost a year so I'm sure it is, haha
oh wow then you have so many things to discover yep
Yeah the last chapter I read was like the cavern Eren was being held in was gonna collapse I think?
That's around 66, I think! Armin is from 10 chapters after that
WELL it turned out I had a 30% off coupon for the site I get my Japanese ebooks from so... :D
awesome!
Now I'll just have to remember to STAY caught up... XD
You can do it! I believe in you
I will try!!! Also I was pleased to see Armin put in charge of something FINALLY :D
Right? And he only pissed himself a little bit!
I know! I'm glad to see he's finally getting that development, IT WAS A LONG TIME COMING haha
He's trying!
It's great! I've always thought he had good leadership potential, just needs experience and such...
yeah if he lives to adulthood he'll be doing something interesting for sure!
Definitely. He's such a great character all-around really (not that I'm biased at all..... XD)
I haven't noticed! ha
I somehow knew I'd like him from the moment I heard the kid screaming "heretic!" at him..... XD
it's always the quiet ones
quiet and unassuming and potentially the deadliest character in the series, yep
just stay on his good side you'll be fine
haha yes be nice to the quiet kid lest he plot against you >D
it's for your own safety
I can only imagine how much trouble he can cause with access to Cerealia's tech now..... :D
eh don't worry... http://cerealia.dreamwidth.org/113878.html?thread=19226582#cmt19226582
HAHAHA poor Armin...
change is hard
I'm sure he'll learn.... XD
give him some time he'll be a whiz. maybe.
He's clever he'll figure it out I'm sure. also only a few more days to new chapter!! :D
yep!
which will probably mean subjecting my friend to more ramblings as usual oops
what a good sport
I apparently am REALLY BAD about shutting up about series I like

Mine wasn't so regal.
[But there's a sheepish glance attached to that admission. He drank one as well after all, no matter what color it was.]
no subject
[ No it most certainly does not occur to her that purple is associated with royalty in most circles. Convenient lapse in education, that. ]
Hm. [ The distraction doesn't last. Soon she's grinning. ] But... you drank one too is what you're saying.

Nao
Yes, I've something.
[His eyelids will do just fine, Armin thinks. With a pinch of self control, that is. He's never been guided by wheelchair before, but the handles to it are evident at a glance, complete with shaped grips. He grasps them easily, fitted naturally to the shape of a human hand as they are. Then he closes his eyes.]
I'm in your hands.
[Be careful.]
no subject
I'll move slowly. I think I saw a clear path a while ago, so someone must've went through the area. Let me know if I'm moving too fast.
[And off they go! Hopefully, this won't be a bad decision at all.]

Leon
Does that matter? The result is the same. I'm glad to meet you.
[He'll stop trying to thank the man since it seems to make him so uncomfortable. It doesn't mean he isn't grateful. Best to switch topics before it becomes offensive to the other man again.]
Have you been here before? This is my first day. If you know the way out I can try to leave quickly before something else catches me up.
no subject
I've been in a similar situation. [Long enough to be able to answer Armin's questions, at least, which is why he just huffs faintly.]
Now that the monster is dead, I suspect that there should be a way out not far from here.
[He's assuming this was their metaphorical "final boss" and so he turns on his heel to start searching for just that... where's the log out spot, c'mon, he's ready to leave this swamp.]

Kaoru
Armin. Arlert.
[It's not much of a response, is it? Armin is still a little dazed. Almost woozy with the implications. Even for someone who's seen a lot of strange things in a short life, this is still a bit much for Armin.
He blinks slowly and lets go of the man's shirt. Log out. Right. He almost understands the words. He knows what they refer to, it's just...a strange, new concept. Having it explained is one thing, but it might take a while to really fall into place.]
Ah. Yes.
[That still isn't much of a response, is it? He shakes his head a little, trying to clear away the foreboding feelings, and tries again.]
Thank you.
no subject
[Trying to give this squirrely kid a reassuring smile, because it seems like he might need it... But!! After that, Kaoru will just swipe a hand across the air, which pulls up the holographic panel of options that players have.
And of course, the log-out feature is currently greyed out and disabled.]
...Well, this is normally the button that you would use to leave. You simply need to press it, like this, even if it doesn't feel solid. That's enough to take you out of the simulation. Ah, but there are other ways to exit even when this is disabled... You'll find that it's like this every time we're drawn into Vivid without warning.
[Which definitely happens more frequently than Kaoru wishes it did.]

Ms. Solo
[Armin raises a hand to stop the young woman, but he doesn't have the breath to call her back himself. It doesn't matter, as in a moment he's already there again, but well ahead of her this time. His legs give out and he drops shakily to the mud, splashing it around himself in a wide arc.
Tears drip down his cheeks now, but he still can't catch his breath to actually be of any use to her. He holds up a hand instead, though that's also a bit shaky.]
Please wait.
[He can't communicate with his voice, but perhaps she'll understand the motion. He doesn't want to be responsible for someone else getting hurt. Especially not over something as ridiculous as this.]
no subject
Is he crying? ]
Are you, uh- are you alright? [ She gives him a wider berth, resisting the urge to reach out and touch his shoulder. ]
(no subject)
Akihiko
[It's effective enough to shake Armin loose from the monster's grasp, though that probably won't make the monster any less irritated with this stranger.
Armin crumples when he's dropped, landing in the mud below with a heavy, painful splat. He groans a little, but can't really complain about the treatment. It's still much better than being eaten alive.]
The crown...
[Does his voice carry well enough? He's still trying to catch his breath. Behind that barrier of thorns up top, though, is an area that's unprotected. A potential weak spot. If he can communicate it, that might just help.]
no subject
[ He calls out, taking note that Armin's landing wasn't exactly smooth. Poor kid. He makes a note to help him out once this pesky problem's been taken care of.
His eyes widen. ]
The what? [ And his attention snaps back to the monster's head, where there is indeed, a crown. It's not too high that he can't jump, but the easiest way is from a little help from Caesar. ]
Persona! [ He calls out, summoning that ever-familiar, godlike presence that soon looms over him and deals a mightly blow from above, right where Armin specified.
Like a sack of potatoes, the creature falls, perhaps for the last time. At least Akihiko can follow Armin's instructions. ]

IV
and obviously the best way to distract someone is to stab them in the back. so that's what he does—a quick leap, grabbing onto one of said tentacles (gross) with one hand and stabbing hard with the other, then letting go, waiting for the monster to turn towards him so he can slice off the appendage holding this poor wayward kid. this, of course, spews gross monster blood everywhere, but there's no time to have a hissyfit about that right now; he grabs Armin's arm and takes off. the talking can come later.
but maybe not before cleaning off the tentacle goo. god, he hates this fucking game. ]
no subject
More running is the last thing Armin wants, but it's what he gets just the same. He stumbles along behind the stranger with only a quiet groan of protest. Whatever energy he has left needs to be channeled into more important things. Escaping death, perhaps.
Real or not, he isn't keen to find out what that feels like. So Armin allows himself to be lead away, panting and gasping unattractively, but all in one piece aside from his tired muscles and aching lungs. He can't quite gather the breath to thank his savior, but in spite of the groaning, he is grateful.]

Tadashi
[Oh. That name...it's difficult, to Armin. He glances up again, uncertainly. The world at home was so small. It was almost impossible to come across unknown things aside from on the battlefield. He's a little nervous to repeat it, in case he screws it up. Better to try, though, and make the mistake early if he must.]
Tah-dah-shee?
[The potion is a different matter. Armin fidgets a little, wanting but not sure that he ought to trust it. Regardless if it helps or not, accepting it or refusing it means something in this situation. More than the ability to trust a stranger, or the wisdom to mistrust.
If there's anything that Armin has learned in his military career, it's that absolutely no one should be trusted, but there's the desire to trust everyone. He'd like to believe it might be different here if they're all meant to be on the same side, but he doubts that. He glances up, seeking out the older man's eyes. If it's a lie, it could easily be a very good one, but Armin wants to trust him. He doesn't have anyone here to believe in yet, after all.]
no subject
Tadashi, yeah. I got you, don't worry.
[ that's... that's all he says. he'd really rather not inconvenience armin any further but he does look at him expectantly. ]

Alice
[Well, the response to that is "you will," but he's not cruel enough to say so yet. Instead he lets the comment pass, accepting her chastising.
Her other comment makes him wince a little, though. As a matter of fact he knows with certainty he can pass as a girl if he needs to, but he'd rather not recall that experience. It's definitely not something to dwell on in polite conversation, either.]
No, this is just my cape and crown.
[That explanation should suffice, shouldn't it? It's something she can relate to her own experiences, which helps as a child if he recalls it correctly. It's been a little while.
Now, to try and get her to think of something nicer.]
Have you ever seen anything like this before?

Katsura
[At this point Armin can't help making a bit of a face. His brow wrinkles just a bit in confusion, and his eyes scrutinize this very strange stranger carefully. Whatever he's thinking in response to that doesn't make it past his lips, but there's a moment where it's evident he's caught by surprise.
No matter how often he hears things like that it never sits well. He takes another try and -humiliating!- misses again. Athletic prowess isn't one of Armin's talents.]
Even back at home...
[There'd been no such thing as becoming adjusted, is how that sentence ends. But he doesn't end it that way. Instead he switches tack.]
I didn't know how to fish. There isn't a queue, is there?
no subject
H'ooh. You never went fishing? Nobody ever taught you?
Sailor Mercury
[That plan seems problematic at best. They must all be out of their depths here. Armin glances around, looking for anything that might give them a clue to a better option. If these animals are fed regularly it should be evident somewhere, but-
His stomach sinks. It appears that they aren't, or if they are he's so far out f his depth that he can't identify what their feed might be. Surely it can't be humans on a normal day, but then what?
He nods to show that he understands, and squares his shoulders. He might not look like it in the ridiculous blue dress, but he has some idea of what to do.]
I'm an infantryman.
[If she has the beasts, he'll help with the crowd control and getting the civilians to safety. He just needs some basic orders to work from.]
Would you like to call the changes?
