![]() ViViD's usual worlds are unfortunately down for maintenance. While CERES' programmers work on getting it back up and running, all new entrees this round will be going through a different level than usual. Only a single world is accessible at the moment, a simple one entitled 'CERESLearn.' "What the $%@& is this?" you must be thinking. Well, it's simple! It's a study program, of course! CERES' advanced AI technology is here to make sure you learn and that you learn sexily. Whether or not you pay attention to the actual content is up to you, the player. Please enjoy it while it lasts. They're here to teach you a variety of subjects and also to make you feel vaguely uncomfortable all over. New arrivals and those logging into ViViD will first find themselves in a classroom with a new operator greeting them rather than Vidia.

Welcome to CEREALIA's latest intro post. For your convenience, we have compiled a post detailing everyone's usual arrival experience (which is not entirely applicable this round for reasons stated above^) and a FAQ that should explain everything in more detail. Please read them thoroughly before playing. Thank you! |

But Shinpachi can rest at ease here at least, because it takes a whole lot to make a bad impression on Oz. He's more than willing to give anyone the benefit of the doubt unless their name is Isla Yura or perhaps Jack...]
It's nice to meet you! I'm sorry, though - it seems like I might have forgotten something important.
[Or be another Oz entirely, yes, but that thought doesn't even occur to him...]
no subject
[ There's something a little sad about Shinpachi as he says it - he smiles, but it's a slightly wry smile. Even if he's used to dealing with it by now, that doesn't mean it's not always a little sad to see someone he knew pretty well not recognizing him anymore..
But whatever. If this is what life is throwing at him, then he'll deal with it. Isn't that how he always works?
So he reaches out with one hand to roughly ruffle Oz's hair. ]
Don't sweat it too much though, Rabbit Kid. [ HE CAN'T DROP THAT NICKNAME THOUGH.. he's just too used to it. ] It happens with more people in this place, ain't nothing you gotta worry about.
no subject
That said, the hair ruffle is met with a laugh just because the gesture itself is so warm and familiar. There may be the faintest note of apology in his voice, but it's largely drowned out by good cheer.]
That's a nice thing for you to say. I don't think that I could handle this as well if our positions were reversed... [SAD BUT TRUE. He thinks Shinpachi deserves that much honesty.] But—! If it's all right with you, I hope that I can get to know you again. Maybe something will jog my memory! [WOULDN'T BE THE FIRST TIME that he's forgotten about someone accidentally and remembered them like a year later whoops...]
—Do you mind if I ask how common this sort of thing is first, though? And why it happens?
no subject
Sounds good to me. [ Even if nothing jogs his memory, honestly. Shinpachi's just fine with just having some good company, and he knows Oz is a good kid. Who can use someone keeping an eye out for him, too, since it's not like Shinpachi knows anything about Oz's powers.. ]
'bout this though.. I've only seen two cases myself, but there might be more around here, I dunno. And I dunno how it happens either.. maybe you went home inbetween and forgot everything that happened in Zelien or whatever. [ And at least he's not dumb enough to not add-- ] That's the place where I met ya before. A place a little like this, except without most of the modern metal junk.
no subject
He'll also listen attentively as Shinpachi explains things, even though the explanation itself is... NOT... EXACTLY A GOOD ONE. His brow furrows a little, though he's still smiling.]
Zelien... So it was an entire town? [And not, say, a murderous amusement park??] When was I there? I was in a place kind of like this before I got here, too - but I remember that one. [The thought that he could have gone through that more than once and just can't recall it is honestly unsettling.]
no subject
You were there for a pretty long time.. you were already there when I showed up, and I remember seeing you until about the very end. That's gotta be a few months' worth of time.
[ At least he's explaining it rather than keeping it from him since.. well, Shinpachi is an honest person and Oz deserves to know if it's about him, right? ]
.. Honestly, I dunno how all this stuff with these places and memories is s'posed to work. It's probably better to not think about it too hard. [ Not that Shinpachi doesn't realise it's unsettling and awkward - of course he does. But since they won't get an easy answer to it anyway, he doesn't want Oz to feel bad about it either.. ]
no subject
But Oz is no stranger to spending a lot of time in one place while also spending seemingly none at all, so he probably isn't as thrown by the revelation as he really should be.]
Months, huh? That's a lot longer than the last. [Though to be honest, that week had been more difficult than most months he's lived through combined. High stakes games that toy with the lives of others aren't for him at all.
That said, even though he's currently working on it, Oz is the master of "out of sight, out of mind". He has other things to worry about right now and can't really afford to mope about time that he may or may not have lost, so he nods in response to Shinpachi's suggestion.]
I'll try not to! I'm curious, but there are more important things to be thinking about, right? [Like how to leave...]
no subject
Instead he just grins, practically borderline-cheeky, like he totally knows he's suggesting the slightly less serious option here but honestly doesn't really give a shit. He's been in a freaking terrible mood lately, might as well take any excuse to try and drag it up a little, including the reappearance of an old friend. ]
Like finding out where the good food is around here, huh?
no subject
Ah! You read my mind! [It couldn't hurt too much, having a little breathing room.]
Someone gave me a list of restaurants and cafes and things to try out earlier, but I haven't heard anyone's personal opinions yet. Where are your favorite places to eat?
no subject
[ HOLD ON A MOMENT, OZ.. PRIORITIES KICKING IN.. how come there was a list and no one told him about it?! Shouldn't he be the very first person to be informed?? Gosh, the nerve of these people. ]
Who did you get that from?! [ Slow down, Shinpachi.. it's just food.. ]
when tagbombs collide.... u will never rid ur inbox of me
EITHER WAY, most importantly, list of food here!! He'll reach into his pocket to fish the folded slip of paper out; it's already fairly creased since he's been showing it off to a number of people... It'll be held out for Shinpachi to take a look at, too!]
He seemed really worried about the burgers, so he gave me the names of these stores that he said were safe to shop at and restaurants that had good food that was okay to eat.
it's true we have way too many tags how did i start living the aki life
No way, to think someone was this thorough 'bout it.. they gotta be a true food specialist! [ And nothing sets Shinpachi's spirit on fire more than that.. except maybe for muscle-related things.. ]
Hold on, I gotta record this!
[ Just hold on and watch some really amazing technology handling, Oz, it's like the circus. Because Shinpachi pulls the CereVice from the folds of his clothes, holds it up like he's going to take a picture, fumbles with the buttons.. and drops it straight onto the floor. Onto his toes, specifically. ]
Dam-- urgh!! [ At least you're somewhat trying to be a role model here, Shinpachi.. gold star.. ]
i snuck up on u when u least expected it...
He did seem to know a lot about this place. Maybe he's a true Cerealia specialist? [THERE ARE A LOT OF SHOPS ON THE LIST after all, and a number of them aren't food-related.
But he will watch Shinpachi handle his CereVice like an even bigger novice than he is, which is such a feat that he almost feels like he needs to applaud or something?! How did this happen...]
Ah— Careful, you're going to hurt yourself like that! [SAID SO VERY HELPFULLY. But he'll be less of a shit and actually pick it up for him, holding it out.]
If you want, I can just let you borrow the list.
suddenly i spotted him in my inbox, out of the corner of my eye.. shia leaki
Then again, he's used to worse - compared to having his hand cut open and various other wounds before, he can deal with an electronic device falling on his foot.. probably.. there's just a little whining involved. ]
Argh, these stupid things..! [ Case in point.
-- taking in a deep breath... ]
It's fine, you're gonna need it more than I do, right? I wouldn't take a list of delicious food away from a kid, then I'd just feel like a big bully.
[ Nevermind the fact that he is a big bully when it comes to Heisuke.. at least treat people equally, Shinpachi. ]
insert catchy drumbeat
Maybe you just have trouble holding it because your hands are so big? [oz why]
Oh! Or I could take a picture of it and send it to you, if you want. Someone showed me how to use the camera on this earlier... [Reaching with his free hand to dig his CereVice out of his pocket!! IT'S ONLY PARTIALLY TRUE THOUGH, he's expecting it to work like a cellphone camera since he's had ample use of that lately. THANKS MURDERGAMES...]
Let's see... Is it this thing? It's this thing, right? [Who even knows what he's pointing to. TIME TO FIDDLE WITH SHIT.]
no subject
Although at least it makes him feel a little less bad about his failure with the device from before, so as Oz fiddles for a moment, he can't help but say-- ]
.. you dunno how to use 'em either, huh. [ DON'T PICK ON LITTLE KIDS JUST SO YOU WON'T FEEL LIKE A DOOFUS, SHINPACHI.. but he's known Oz for long enough to know the kid can handle it - or the one he met back in Zelien, anyway. ]
no subject
So the remark doesn't seem to ruffle him - the only thing doing that is this cEREVICE AND THE FACT THAT IT ISN'T LISTENING TO HIM. It definitely isn't like the phone he had used before, anyway, which means he is lost and now they only have a combined 50% chance of figuring this out and 50% is still an F.]
...No, no, I can figure it out! [HOLDING IT UP like one would do with a camera, and pointing it in Shinpachi's direction... like this will help any...] It's just a button, isn't it?
no subject
Here, I bet you just have to push this and this or something.. [ TOUCHING THE SCREEN RANDOMLY.. no Shinpachi, don't you know this is how time travel happens in most B-movies.
He finally presses something.. except it's the record button for the voicemail message.. not like he realises. ]
Oh, look, it beeped! [ It did something. Amazing. ]
no subject
Except Oz doesn't seem to care too much, because it's Oz and of course he doesn't. He'll stand on his toes to try getting a closer look as Shinpachi fiddles around, and once he hears the beeping noise, his expression lights up like he totally thinks that all of their dumb ye olde problems have somehow miraculously been solved. SHINPACHI, SAVIOR OF THE DUMB NERDS FROM THE PAST (no).]
Does that mean it took a picture? Here, do it again!
[Holding up the paper!!]
no subject
[ With a big grin he aims the device at the paper, presses the button again, and...
.. there's another beep. Not like they know what it means though, so Shinpachi looks so proud of himself that he figured it out. Look how amazing he's being in front of this kid, he's going to get somewhere in life alright..!
Except then.. he glances down to the device.. ]
.. y'know, I wonder how you can look up the picture now.. [ WHY IS LIFE SO HARD AND UNUSUALLY CRUEL. ]
no subject
See this is why they each need babysitters, and probably some sort of class about adjusting to futuristic technology. OTHERWISE THIS HAPPENS. THIS RIGHT HERE. Now they're stuck looking like morons, wow!!]
—I used a cell phone once, and there was - a folder! I think that's what she called it? The pictures went to a folder that was... on a chip? Oh, but I don't remember how we got to the folder... She was always the one to do that! [LOUD GRUMBLING.]
no subject
[ TALKING ABOUT TWO DIFFERENT KINDS OF CHIPS ENTIRELY. Although let's be real, do you really think it's beyond Shinpachi to try and eat the other kind of chip too.. probably not..
His thoughts are totally wandering off to him wanting to have more of those again now though. Thanks, Oz. ]
no subject
You can eat them?
[?? Technology is edible?! This is a great new discovery!!
Also a dangerous one, probably. Now there are two people in Cerealia who may or may not eat a computer chip if given the chance when there shouldn't even be one.]
That's a little surprising... I thought chips were made out of metal like the rest of the phone.
no subject
Yeah, 'course you can eat 'em! They're not even made out of metal or anything, I asked about it and apparently they're.. uh.. potatoes, or whatever? Something like that. But they're really crunchy and they taste so good that once you have one, you can't stop! [ He looks so happy about it too.. Shinpachi could talk about food all day.
It's much better than fiddling around with a dumb device that hates him anyway. ]
no subject
Potatoes! These things run on something like that? [He shakes the device a little, like he expects to hear a potato rolling around inside or something.]
I've never had anything like that before, though... Where did you get it? You didn't just break open your phone, did you?
[Even Oz knows that'll probably break the shit out of it, and he sure doesn't want to be without potential communication networks.]
