[ even freezing and really confused about it, haru still doesn't look happy about his kitchen being raided like this. he has about three pairs of socks on, a long-sleeved shirt, a sweater, and one of his cardigans, and he's still shivering, but his hands are also planted on his hips and he's obviously frowning. ]

Mutsu-kun, that's not funny.

[ he glances pointedly at the cake obviously sitting on the counter, then back up to mutsu again, brows arching. ] You left a note on it.

( He looks up, clearly distressed over the clear lack of cake and frowns. Don't look at him like that, Haru! He's legitamely trying here. )

I know! I know!

Haruji, someone ate it anyway! Who'd do somethin` like that?

( He's even pointing to the counter where the cake... clearl is. )

[ what. ]

What? [ he follows mutsu's finger just to make sure he really is pointing right at the cake. yup.

his eyes narrow, then widen. ] Is this a joke? Mutsu-kun, you know I'm gullible about that sort of thing. Stop that.

I'm not joking! ( He'd never make fun of Haru like this. Maybe tease him a little here and there but never joke about something as serious as food! Especially one of his favorites! ) I'm serious!

It's all gone!

( A beat. )

... I bet Kashuu ate it all.

[ he's serious. he's serious? he really, honest-to-goodness can't see the cake sitting right there on the countertop?

vaguely alarmed, he thrusts his hand out, palm up. ] Let me see your vessel. [ look, you can never be too cautious. maybe there's something haru didn't notice the last time he took care of mutsu. (hard to believe, considering how thorough he is, but there's a first time for everything.) ]

( He leans back at the sudden motion, looking down at Haru's hand with concerned confusion. Should he be worried? Is something wrong? What's happening? But he's never one to turn down an order from Haru and he reaches for the sword at his side, )

Is something wrong, Haruji? ( And he hands over his sword, placing it in Haru's hand--

And stands up a little straighter, a slight chill going down his spine. ) ... Ya're cold!

[ haru takes the sword, pulling it from its sheath to start looking it over for anything he might've missed. at the exclamation, though, he makes a slightly disgruntled noise. ]

Yeah, I can't get warm today for some reason. I thought it was just the apartment, but.. [ he flips mutsu's vessel over on his arm to check the other side, too. ] Maybe I'm getting sick? I'm kind of due for a cold or something..

[ he wasn't a particularly sickly child, but malnutrition and neglect in his childhood had taken its toll. he usually gets at least a cold once or twice a year. ]

Huh.. You seem fine. [ he sheathes the sword again, brows drawing together, puzzled. ]

Then ya should rest up. ( Now he's hovering, concerned more for Haru than missing castella cake. ) I'll bring ya some tea or somethin`.

( Don't get sick, Haruji. Whatever might have been wrong with Mutsu-- any concern he might have had for himself just a second ago-- is completelly a thing of the past right now. )

[ he glances back up, blinking once, offering the sword back out on his palms for mutsu to take. ] I'm okay right now. I'm not running a fever or anything, and I'll go get some medicine later. [ he's just cold. he can't warm up for anything. he'd thought maybe jack was playing a trick on him or something.

his eyes are drawn to the castella cake again suspiciously. ]

Mutsu-kun, the cake is sitting right there where you left it. That worries me, that you can't see it. [ he's going to be so mad if it's something stupid like supernatural cake. ]

( He'll take it back but... hmm... Just to make sure, he'll even reach out to touch Haru's forehead. Ah, no fever, after all.

Something is going wrong here, especially when Haru mentions the cake being on the counter still, )

Are ya sure? ( He follows Haru's eyes and is even looking in the exact spot but his eyes clearly aren't registering anything, ) That doesn't make any sense though. I can see everything just fine!

[ he allows the touch patiently, but at the question, he nods. ]

I'm sure. [ he gets a fork out, breaking a piece off and offering it up for the spirit. ] Try it. [ while mutsu's doing so, he's thinking really hard about what could have caused something like this. ]

There's nothing weird about the cake, so.. maybe it's CERES doing something awful again. [ but why cake specifically??? ]
