She can be found waiting outside the restaurant itself, wearing a short, simple black dress and stockings. The dress itself is loose enough that she'll have no problem fighting in it if it comes to that, and of course, she has her sword. Since it is a date, she's forgone her normal braids in favor of a tight bun, wound tightly with a dragon pin.
She's definitely nervous, but at least it doesn't show on her face as she crosses her arms and leans against the wall outside the restaurant itself, keeping a careful eye out for anyone with a matching sky blue button.]

He doesn't know anything at all about modern, western fashion still, even after the weeks he's been here. There's no way he could bring himself to wear a suit on his date, and has opted for --- a far less formal red hoodie, and black jeans. he was convinced to pin half of the hair that frames his face up, after seeing it in a magazine.
---But, he locates the girl with a matching pin, nicely on time! ]
--Ah!
no subject
[That sure is a blue pin. Peko blinks at it for a moment -- Soramaru? Someone from Japan? -- before focusing on his face. He's a couple inches shorter than her, but that's fine, she's used to being around those kind of guys.]
...
[Wait, how does one even start a conversation for something like this!?]
Soramaru, is it...? My name is Pekoyama Peko. It's... nice to meet you.
[She's not actually angry, that's just her usual intense expression. At least she uncrosses her arms and dips her head to go along with the greeting.]
no subject
[ he returns the small, polite dip of his head. ...he has no idea how to go on a date at all. does he act natural, does he just act like they're spending time together--? ]
Do you-- want to go inside?
no subject
[He gets a sharper glance for that, her lips parting in visible surprise. That's-- now that she's heard the name, Soramaru does rather look like Tenka.
But that's not the kind of discussion to be had standing out on the street, so she just nods and turns toward the restaurant.]
Yes. I believe Mabel has taken care of our reservations already.
[It feels weird to be going to a restaurant without Kuzuryuu, but this is part of trying new things. And she might be scoping the place out in case she needs a location for a future date, as well. Fortunately, thanks to the reservation, it's quick enough for them to get their booth.]
no subject
he's not quite sure where to begin, when they sit down. it's weird, to just bring up his brother, isn't it...? so -- he opts to turn his attention on the other shared detail. ]
You're a swordsman?
no subject
[With his question answered, Peko opens the menu to begin looking it over -- it's a second before she remembers that wait, no, progressing a conversation... she's been working on that, but under these circumstances, it's easy to forget something like that.]
Which is to say, I've studied kendo my entire life.
[That's a step in the right direction, though she's still not really progressing the conversation. At least she's looking at him instead of the menu to see if he's going to comment.]
no subject
[ ...sort of. but -- this is a topic he can dig into. it's one that's very close to him. ]
--Ah, well. Not-- "kendo", but I've practiced swordsmanship with my brother or Master almost... every day of my life, it feels like. I was going to bring my sword, actually -- Since it feels weird without it, but I thought it'd be rude. ...It sounds like I should have, though, haha...
no subject
[She's quiet as she listens to him describe it, nodding and making small sounds of understanding to indicate she's listening as he goes on. She had considered not bringing her sword, but, well, she'd talked to Mabel about it already and trusted that the younger girl wouldn't force her to go to a place that wouldn't allow it.]
Your brother is... Kumou Tenka, correct? [yeah, she's another adoptee, whether she wanted to be or not. Really, Tenka kind of forced his aniki-ness on her, in spite of everything.] I find it is always best to bring your sword, no matter what the circumstance.
[She says that just because, like Soramaru, it's weird not to have it. Besides, how can she protect someone if she doesn't have it...? She doesn't have the kind of skills to permit her to be any good in another fashion.]
no subject
[ it's a compliment, honestly. it's a huge, huge compliment that someone can pick up that easily that tenka's his brother. is he like him? does he give off the same air-? can he be even a fraction as bright as he is--? ...he hopes so. ]
But... Ah, I agree, I guess. If something happened, I don't want to be weak and useless...
no subject
Don't worry. My sword is a tool to protect people. If something happens, I can watch out for you until you can retrieve your blade.
[Does... does she think that sounds cool!? No, she honestly means it. If he's Tenka's brother, than it's almost like an obligation to watch out for him.]
I did not think Tenka used a sword.
no subject
[ he brightens, leaning forward a bit. so -- they share the same ideals in swordsmanship? this date isn't bad at all. ]
Ah-- The swords I used were his. They were a family heirloom, but he passed them to me and kept training me while using them. ---It's embarrassing, but... Even with just his fan, he beat me every time.
no subject
[She actually looks interested in that, slightly mirroring his position to listen more closely to what might have to say about that. All she knows is that Tenka did get rather offended when she'd even indirectly suggested that Sousei was the better fighter, so... hearing that he'd trained his brother in the same way that she'd always considered herself is nice to hear. Not to mention that a guy that friendly could be so strong... maybe there's hope for her, after all.
His enthusiasm really does remind her of Tenka, in a way, in a way that really can't help but put her a little more at ease.]
I never did get the chance to fight him, but... I would be interested in facing you, as well. I have found that even kendo of the Super High School Level isn't always enough in this place, so, if I can learn from you... I would appreciate it.
no subject
[ her ideals match up so snugly against his own that he doesn't want to waste time. as much as he appreciates that girl for setting this up -- what he suggested sounds like something more comfortable than sitting awkwardly in a restaurant. ]
no subject
[Wait, hang on, that's completely unexpected, bringing a flush to Peko's cheeks. Hadn't she come along just looking to practice for an eventual date with Kuzuryuu? She definitely hadn't intended to meet up with someone related to Tenka, let alone someone he had trained to hold ideals similar to hers.
...It would be fine to forego practice this time, right? This is practice of another kind... or, rather, the kind of experience of doing something for herself, without Kuzuryuu's permission or approval, that is really what she needs practice with the most.]
Y-yes, I would... like that.
[And, decision made, she rises to her feet. Alrighty then, so much for the restaurant. She'll apologize to Mabel later, though even this seems like something the younger girl would approve of.]
no subject
[ he... leaves about as much money as it would be for two people to eat on the table. they didn't dine and dash, or anything, but the restaurant reserved their table and lost out on sales, didn't it...?
but, he gets up, and turn to her with a smile! ]
Let's go then, Peko!
no subject
In either case, while she won't argue to Soramaru leaving money, she certainly isn't leaving any of her own. Even if she feels bad since he's paying for a date they didn't actually have. Introducing swordplay has removed it from the realm of what she imagines a normal date to be, after all!]
Very well. Would you prefer I retrieve my shinai from home, and meet you somewhere? Or are blades fine?
[She doesn't know his skill level, after all, and with how dangerous this colony can be, she's stopped carrying her shinai everywhere in exchange for the katana Katsura had gotten her for Christmas. Also:]
...Are you like your brother in that you also prefer to be called by your first name, as well?
1/2
[ ---it's not as if he unsheaths it. the kumou blades are gone -- but the replacement is still 'a sword to protect'. he doesn't need the sharp edge, he doesn't need to draw blood to be able to protect those he needs to. ]
---Ah, I don't mind. When people say "Kumou", they usually think of Aniki first, so I'm used to it...
no subject
no subject
[She's actually rather pleased by his answer, giving him a firm nod. No smile, but that's pretty normal for Peko. She understands only wanting to draw a blade when it's absolutely necessary, and being around someone who respects that is a nice change.
As for her name, though?]
...Soramaru, then. [It feels strange to call someone by their first name while having them call her by her last... but it feels even stranger to immediately be on a first-name basis with a Japanese person, as well.]
For me, Pekoyama or Peko is fine, but Peko-chan is off-limits. [Tenka...]
no subject
...We're still on a date, right? So, we shouldn't split up, I think. Then, we can head to the dojo where Master works? I'm sure he wouldn't mind me being there after-hours.
no subject
[Another nod as she starts walking, expecting the other to follow. Ah, but the comment about the dojo piques her interest, and she glances back to him.]
Who is your master?
no subject
Abe no Sousei! We're from the same place--- And he's a friend of Aniki's. It was hard to get him to agree to train me, but... in the end, he agreed.
no subject
[Moreso than she'd ever wanted to, really, thanks to that glitch that had swapped their memories. Again, though, that's another level of respect Soramaru's gained in Peko's eyes; if he's being trained by Sousei, he must have extraordinary discipline.]
I'm very interested to see what you've learned from him.
no subject
[ he looks away bashfully, scratching his cheek. he has improved under sousei - he knows that much. he can feel himself being stronger, can notice the change in the speed of his movements, has seen the muscle that came with training harder outside practice to impress him when they picked up again, but -- ... he wants to be praised for those things without drawing attention to them. ]
I'm still nowhere near his level --
