What: kanda gets lost and is a menace to society.

[ his own belongings currently stashed in the apartment he'd been given, seeing as none of it was particularly valuable to anyone but himself—except for mugen, which is at his hip, and his clothes, which he's wearing for lack of anything else—kanda has been stalking around the colony. there's no sign of an exit, which he should have expected based on what others told him. equally discomforting is the change in setting. the technology is something like the science department would dream up, and he feels lost.

he's still walking around like he's going somewhere to commit a well-planned murder, though. his pace only drops when he glances through a window and seems something odd.

lotus flowers. he glances around and sees more, of course, but they're a different color than the ones in this shop. but maybe his hallucinations have progressed and he's now dreaming up a setting for the flowers, as well—a shop full of other flowers and a huge bowl of water for the thick-petaled lotus blooms.

so that's where vietnam will find him: glaring at her poor lotuses like he's about to pull out his sword and cut them to pieces. he's probably scaring off customers. ]

[ kanda heard her coming, so he at least doesn't twitch for his sword, but he does look at her without any sense of politeness or happiness that they've met again. ]

...no.

[ it took him quite a while to answer with that, though. ]

[If he was happy, she might probably have jumped. At least seeing him grumpy is actually familiar.

Also she is suspicious thanks to awkward pause.]

Really? It is fine to say. There is no one else here.

[They all went to the other end of the shop.]

[ it's true that kanda scared pretty much everyone off, but... he still doesn't trust this place. surely there are people listening at all times! (for once his paranoia might not be misplaced.) ]

I was just looking. Is this your shop?

[hoasen]

[Kanda, you need to learn to cool your bitchy resting face. But yes, actually, she would even agree with that...dammit.]

I see, in that case, feel free to look around? And I help manage it, yes. [She didn't dish out the money for it, as CERES designated her the job. But she did kind of boss her way up to the top (how).]

[overgrowth]

[ making a soft 'hm' noise of acknowledgement, kanda looks over the rest of the shop for the first time. he focuses back on the lotuses after a moment, though, staring and tentatively extending a finger to touch just the edge of a petal. ]

[hoasen]

[She watches him, curious to see where he would go first. It seems like he didn't want to move though and only gives his attention to the lotuses.

Though she would want to ask if he likes them, she didn't want to interrupt him yet.]

[overgrowth]

[ so they are real. kanda takes his hand back and crosses his arms. ]

If you manage it, who's the owner?

[hoasen]

[Kanda, stop killing the lotuses with your eyes. She needs to sell those...]

Strangely, we have never met the owner. [What a mystery.] I am allowed to do whatever I can to ensure a healthy profit flow, and then occasionally we are given orders. I do not mind.

[overgrowth]

[ if he kills the lotuses he'll die too... maybe. ]

That's suspicious as fuck. Why do you listen to them?

[hoasen]

[Yeah okay no, she wants him to live.

She looks around carefully, making sure no one is listening before answering.]

Because I have control of this place. Which in turn means we all do.

[Well, she's still the manager, but the point still stands!]

"We"? I don't work here.

[hoasen]

In general, that is. Those who work here will have more power than our bosses. Ah, but don't tell them, they don't need to find out.

You could always work here, if you wish.

[overgrowth]

I don't do flowers.

[ especially not lotuses. thinking over his suggested jobs, though, he's having second thoughts, and his expression reveals that he's thinking hard. really hard. steam might come out of his ears, he's a dumbbutt. ]

[hoasen]

[But they call out to him. She's noticing that he's...not refusing? The way he's looking and thinking about it, it's not like he's walking away, or dropping the topic.

Also bring the tea, she needs to get his steam to heat it (WHOA).]

You can work at the back too, we could do with some heavy lifting. And you are very strong.

[overgrowth]

[ kanda kind of gives her a look for that last statement, but he figures it's probably because he did try to abduct her back in the hospital. ]

You don't have anyone already doing that job?

[hoasen]

[He has to make up a lot for his sins. She crosses her arms to consider this. Everyone does pitch in to help, and Mutsunokami also occasionally comes, but he's not regular staff. Those who do a lot of heavy lifting are either on the floor, or is Ookurikara, but--]

Those who try to do it often are actually meant for the kitchen. [That's where he's meant to be.]

[overgrowth]

[ kanda hesitates for a moment longer, looking critically... at everything. ]

I have a job, but it's only nights. What hours do you need the help?

[hoasen]

[The day she walks in on him giving plants loving looks is the day Thistle Do Nicely has a public holiday.]

I will only need you during the day. Will that be okay with you?

[overgrowth]

That's fine. [ ... ] When should I start?

[hoasen]

[THIS WAS faster than she thought.]

Whenever you are available to start and want to. Preferably within the next week or so, latest. You can start right now if you like. [HAHAHA she meant tomorrow. Who the hell starts immediately.]

[overgrowth]

Like... now?

[ kanda does 'cus he's dumb. ]

[hoasen]

[She's not even sure if she's joking anymore cos he dumb.]

[ he's not joking. ]

Ah, now she can't tell him she was sort of joking, otherwise it will be awkward.]
