What: It's a break-in! That seems like a fantastic idea that in no way could possibly go wrong.
Rating/Warning: PG-13: Some violence, injuries and possible death.

[ Entering the CERES research tower will be somewhat easier than expected.

There are no armed guards that will stop anyone if they come in through the front doors (or the side doors, or any doors) and regardless of which doors they choose, there will be a desk, behind which sits a robot receptionist. If they come in through a window, there will be a robot receptionist. No matter how they break in, the receptionist is there.

Weird.

If you talk to the robot receptionist, he will give you a pamphet. It is titled CERES and You: How to Live a Fulfilling Life With CERES. Now doesn't that sound like fun reading.

After a rousing game of rock, paper, scissors (unless you really want to play Uno in the lobby), it's decided. One group will go left. One group will go right.

There are unassuming doors on each side. Time to go! ]

[A little anticlimactic... Hinata looks uncertainly toward Celty before he heads further inside to test the cabinets. Then he'll look around for a switch to make sure they're not missing anything in here.]

...I wonder if we should try to break one of these open?

[Referring to the filing cabinet. He's taking his wanton destruction cues from Katsura apparently.] Nah, how about the other room first?

[And then they can come back and smash things if they don't find anything more useful in the other room Katsura isn't checking out.]

[ what an ominous poster. that's definitely not foreshadowing, is it?

once it seems like hinata can't open the cabinets, she nods, giving one last glance around the room before turning back towards the hallway. ]

I agree, let's join Katsura and double back later.

[ she's loathe to keep them separated for longer than they need to be. ]

_{[ Katsura's hair on the back of his neck stick straight up. This is like a dentist's office. Nothing is more terrifying than a dentist's office. He gives a glance to Elizabeth. They both look calm but are actually pretty uncomfortable about being in here ... the dentist really suck and they both have had bad experiences (yes, even if it looks like Elizabeth just has a bill.)

They both walk out into the hallway and speak softly: ]}

There is another door in here; what did you find?

Nothing much besides filing cabinets we couldn't open. We thought we'd go back and break them open later.

[And proceed onward for now--

Hinata peers over at the door where Katsura came from, glimpsing the inside and frowning.] Did you check behind that other door?

There is another door, yes, but I was wondering if you both also found another door or if we should just investigate this one. It is what looks like a waiting room, so I expect the absolute worst.

Since ours is a dead end, perhaps we could investigate this one for now. If this is meant to be a waiting room, then it should stand to reason that the door would lead to an operating or examination room of some kind. A consultation room, even, to discuss treatments.

[ though any kind of treatment from CERES would be more harm than good. ]

Maybe we could find some information about the implants in there.

[Hinata nods along in agreement, folding his arms over his chest. He's unaware that Katsura's biggest fear here is the potential for dentistry...]

Or even worse—! _{[ he's just going to say it to warn you all! ]} It could be a dentist!
_{[ Quickly, Katsura unsheathes his sword and holds the hilt tightly. He's one to typically run away when things get brutal, but not when there are people he can protect form the horrors of dentistry. ]}

No, I will go through this door first! Celty-dono, if you would be so kind to obliterate the hatch!
_{[ Yeah, he still doesn't trust just opening the door like a normal person. He does assert himself forward back into the room then shifts to the side to give Celty some room. ]}

[ so "dentist" is a trigger word. gotcha.

anyway, she'll follow katsura in and cut down the door inside as well. ]

[RIGHT BEHIND THEM but not without a comment of—]

Oi, you're that afraid of them...?

[But all right since we're getting all weaponized he's shifting his hand, pulling out his pistol out from underneath his jacket.]

[ Down the door goes!

This room is all nice and lit up, so there's no need to fumble for a light switch or use a flashlight.

And inside they will find... that it is not, in fact, the dentist. (Yay?) Instead, it appears to be a spot for robots to be able to get recharged; there's even a robot sitting on the chair now, plugged in.

The one overseeing this procedure does not look very happy to have been interrupted. Would you really want to make that face unhappy? And, mechanically: ]

Please wait for your appointment.

[ The robot looks embarrassed. This is very private stuff you know.

Oh right and there appears to be a door to the back room in the back corner, and the charging station is definitely sitting on a tile of flooring that is a different color from the rest. ]

_{[ Wow, it's really bright! Katsura blinks a few times, then keeps his sword withdrawn. Uh, this is awkward. He doesn't precisely want to wait and he doesn't precisely want to run away either. Instead, he wants to go through the next door because that's a fantastic idea!

Something about having a robot see their faces doesn't sit well with him either, but nonetheless, he's going to bullshit: ]}

Ah. We're with the new maintenance team. We heard there was a piece of machinery down.

_{[ ???????????? is this a smart idea. Probably not. He'll be happy to slash this guy down (which he'll probably end up doing anyway unless somebody beats him to it.) ]}

[ once celty notices the robot recharging, she lifts her scythe again in preparation to cut it down, but is startled by the other robot. so startled, in fact, that she nearly jumps, a burst of smoke leaking through the ears of her helmet like a gasp.

god, that's some creepy shit.

in any case, once katsura says they're the new maintenance team, her scythe dissolves into smoke only to reform into what looks like a toolbox. suddenly, katsura and hinata will find black official-looking name tags pinned to the front of their shirts with fake names that read "taro tanaka", "bakyura", and "mai". the one on her bodysuit reads "setton".

look, they're totally legit. see? ]

The robots don't even pause; they accept that explanation immediately and without feeling any need to stop them.

Though they will probably also expect you to do some actual, you know, maintenance. ]

[Hinata's still stuck on the fact that he has a name tag now, okay? He also didn't expect Celty's scythe could just... change shape. But fine, he's hiding his gun again (:T) and glancing between Katsura and Celty helplessly before stepping forward.

All right... Looking around and pretending to be maintenance it is.]

Katsura clears his throat. Right then. Nothing to see here. ]}
We are just ordinary maintenance people doing ordinary work and not getting paid enough. Give our regards to the CEO.

_{[ just.. walking past them and heading straight for that door that apparently leads to some operating room.. so they think. I guess he should go ahead and open it like a normal person now? Absolutely.
Katsura puts his hand on the handle and turns it. If it opens, he'll crack it open before slipping inside.

If it doesn't open, he will see if there is any lock to it. ]}

[ she's gomen, hinata. also shut up katsura and just open the stupid door, is what she'd say if she was rude but she isn't. so she simply turns her helmet toward him with A Look before following him to the door, almost dreading what they'll find beyond it.

if it doesn't open she'll just break it down again, nbd. ]

[Hinata purses his lips slightly and gives Katsura a look which probably would be similar to Celty's... if, you know, she had a head and all.

But okay gathering behind them it is, waiting in anticipation or something--]

[ No lock! Nobody was expecting maintenance apparently.

Either way, he'll be able to open that door just fine.

You can't see much through the crack, but it seems to be a well-lit room either way. ]

_{[ In he goes, then! Elizabeth decides to stay back— this time behind the entire group. As Katsura enters inside, he seems to be walking cautiously with his hand on the hilt of his sword.

He'll be on the look out for any kind of thngs that might help their guidance. Such as a map? Hmm, maybe that was the flyer the receptionist was giving out— but surely there might be something useful in here, right? ]}

[ In he goes! And, well, the room he'll find looks entirely different from the front of the CERES tower that they've been trampling through thus far. It's a very sleek hallway, though dimly lit, as though it hasn't been in use today (or for a little while).

It's deserted, but there are window panels on the right wall leading to...what appear to be cultivated plants.

To the left, there are desks as though for scientists to work at, though there are no papers or anything scattered about; the desks are clean. Well, maybe there's a pen or two. ]

_{[ what a beautiful little, serene area. Though, Katsura remembers how brutal the plant life and animal life can be here, so he still keeps his caution. He begins to step forward to allow everybody else in the follow, and after taking a prolonged glance at the window to see what he can find, he quickly picks up the pace.

Katsura walks extremely light and quick on his feet. If they are too slow, it could cause other problems. This here is very interesting, but it is not what he is looking for.

Elizabeth stays in the very back of the group, and seems a bit more interested in observing the window and see what is out of it. A placard appears in his flipper as he, uh, speaks to anybody who is willing to read:
"They seem awfully interested—
—In the greenery that is here.
Do you think they are using energy from this planet for something?"]}

This kinda reminds me of the higher floors, [Hinata starts to say, very quietly. He's thinking mostly of the hall he and Katsura were in before, though it led to a crumbling, unused one.

Unused hallways, man. He just hopes there're gonna be no robots with guns.

He'll be following after Katsura, quick as well, one hand tucked under his jacket to grip his gun as they go.]

[ celty decides to stay in the back for now as well to cover their exit. it doesn't seem like any of the robots have followed them, but the black toolbox returns back to its scythe form anyway. she's able to catch elizabeth's message, at least, which only serves to confirm the information hak had given them about the file he found.

she turns on her text-to-voice app on her device, volume turned up just loud enough for katsura and hinata to hear. ]

From what a friend of mine found earlier, CERES has been making profit off of the energy we generate. What kind of energy is unknown, but the revenue is certainly something.

_{[ Zura is plugging right along towards the end of this hallway, though willing to leave Elizabeth and Celty in the back. If they want to take their time, that is fine. This place doesn't seem dangerous, so he is throwing caution to the wind to save them time. No doubt some security breach could happen if they dilly-dally.

As he moves, at a light jog, he does look for any kind of things on the desks that he could maybe investigate other than pens.}

Greed of mankind can certainly be the evilest.
_{[ is Katsura's response. He remembers hearing something about this earlier, so Celty bringing it up again just makes him a bit pissed off. ]}
