[open] WHO LET THE DOG OUT

Who: [personal profile] flaredo & [personal profile] undaunts and YOU! (Tagging order will be You-Ruby-Yang!)
When: IC 5/1
Where: Everywheeeeeeeeere
What: In which a corgi rains terror over the populace
Rating/Warning: C for CORGIIIIIIII

[ So while you're walking about, enjoying or hating your day, you will encounter a dog. This dog will, as adorable corgis do, perform one of the following feats:

a.) Steal whatever you're holding for a game of Keep Away. Don't think that being tall will save you, he's got quite the spring in his hind legs.

b.) Drop whatever thing he's picked up (ball, wadded up paper, someone's high heel) and wait expectantly for you to play fetch with him.

c.) Bark. And roll over. This means love him.

d.) Trip you. It's probably unintentional.

Whatever he does, at least you'll hear two voices (familiar or not) clamoring in the distance for "Zweeeeeeeeeeeeeei!" and then Yang and Ruby will be heading in your direction at high speed.

Whatever you do, don't grab the dog and run. They may not know who you are, but they will find you. And they will kill you.

Or at least make you regret it. ]

[It's also nice to see a pet that's real and alive here, not just another robot. He shoots the girls a skeptical raised eyebrow though.]

"Combat corgi"? Seriously? Do you take him into ViViD or something?

[Can... Can dogs even go into ViViD??]
undaunts: (wait what does harlequin mean again)

[personal profile] undaunts 2016-01-10 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Uh... well, I guess we could.

[Ruby just shrugs, even as Zwei barks happily.]

Mostly she meant that he can come with us on field missions though.

Field missions? Do you mean back where you're from then...?

[Color him curious on what sort of missions two girls who are probably younger than him go on.]

My family's got a golden retriever, but about the most combative thing he does is occasionally steal food from someone's plate when they're not looking.
undaunts: (i know someone who's cool)

[personal profile] undaunts 2016-01-14 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yep! We're Huntresses, so we go and fight giant monsters.

[You know, as you do. She giggles at that, though.]

Zwei does that too! Dogs are pretty sneaky, huh?

[Freddie's eyes grow wide at the mention of fighting giant monsters.]

Wait-- you do? Serious? Where are you from? Er-- when? Sorry, I just-- [It's mostly the military fighting off giant monsters where he's from, but that's not to say that others who do are out there. Or that the military might hire teenage girls for some reason.]

-- I don't mean anything bad by it, it's just that you don't fit the profile of most monster fighters I've met back home.
undaunts: (ok new plan: we ride the grimm)

[personal profile] undaunts 2016-01-16 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Um... Remnant!

[Yeah. Ruby's not expecting too much recognition, because she can usually tell when people are from their world and he doesn't really come across that way.]

We're from Remnant. And trust me, monster-hunting is totally normal there.

[...] Sort of. I mean, for Huntresses it is.

[personal profile] itcamefromthe1950s 2016-01-17 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
That's-- incredible. [He's really surprised. Anyone he's talked to so far as been pretty surprised about the monster thing when he brings it up, so he was starting to get the idea that most other people's worlds weren't like his. And he had started to feel a little bitter about it. He hoped they knew how lucky they had it.]

I've never heard of it, but, wow. So you're with the military, then? That would make sense... [Being from 1958, so women being prevalent in the military isn't really a thing yet, but he thinks it's totally cool.]

I, uh, I'm not much of a fighter, so I've been trying to help on the research side. My whole family is involved in it in one way or another, really. But I'm currently in-- er, was in college for biology, planning to take up xenobiology.
undaunts: (this is what friendship looks like)

[personal profile] undaunts 2016-01-17 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Soooort of. I mean, Huntsmen and Huntresses are separate from the military and way cooler but we still protect people from monsters and stuff like that!

[Nailed it. But she beams at him, because even if it's not quite as cool as monster hunting in her 15 year old head, she still thinks:]

Hey, that's important too! So you study monsters and things like that, then?
itcamefromthe1950s: DNS (001)

[personal profile] itcamefromthe1950s 2016-01-18 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
That's right! [He beams himself now, always very proud of his extensive knowledge.] Gotta know your enemy, right? My aunt's a scientist too, and my family deals with, um, disposal. [Because someone has to clean up those biohazard messes.] So it's pretty much the family business. I never thought I'd meet anyone else here who'd be involved in this sorta thing, especially since when I've brought it up to people here... Well, they seem to think it sounds insane. I didn't realize my world's more unique than others.
undaunts: (and a little of that)

[personal profile] undaunts 2016-01-18 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Ewwww, disposal.

[But she's got the humor of a young teenage girl, so she's snort-laughing anyway.]

But yeah, not a lot of people are used to giant monsters. It's weird, but... their loss, really! I mean--there are a lot of giant monsters here, so at least we're prepared.
itcamefromthe1950s: (010)

[personal profile] itcamefromthe1950s 2016-01-19 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
It's not glamorous by any means, but hey, it's gotta be done, right? [And thanks to this decades-long family business, they're very well off. Not too many are willing to do it, and his family's name is respected for it.] Can't just leave dead giant monsters lying around everywhere.

Um, well, I've been trying to, but getting my hands on any information has been pretty tough. Like how the library seems to completely lack a non-fiction section, for one thing.
undaunts: (two... two! ah ah ah.)

[personal profile] undaunts 2016-01-19 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeaaaaahhh there's not a lot of info here. If you ever wanna go study some monsters up close and personal, let us know! We could go out into the jungle and get a few.

[And, you know. Fight them. It's what they do.]
itcamefromthe1950s: DNS (nervous/embarrassed)

[personal profile] itcamefromthe1950s 2016-01-21 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Uh oh. Here's where things get dicey for Freddie. At the mention of getting "up close and personal" with monsters, his excitement falters. While he studies monsters and is incredibly knowledgeable in them, it's because he's terrified of them and wants to help in their eradication from a distance. Or once they're good and dead.

However, he doesn't want to look like a total pansy in front of two cute teenage girls who fight monsters. It's fear versus ego in Freddie's head for a moment, and both forces are pretty big. In the end, it's ego that wins out, and he attempts to slap a grin back on his face like it ain't no thang.]

S-Sure! Yeah! I mean, if no one's started writing down any research on the monsters here, someone needs to, yeah? Just in case we're ever in danger from them in here, so we know how to defend ourselves. Not that they ever get in here. Do they ever get in here?
undaunts: (YEAH GIRL POWER)

[personal profile] undaunts 2016-01-21 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sorry, Freddie. Ruby's definitely not perceptive enough to notice that he's very much nervous and worried about this. She's just excited at the chance of helping!!!!]

Sometimes! But it's pretty rare, usually they stay out in the jungle. But you're right! The more we know, the better, and the less chance someone will get eaten by them again!
itcamefromthe1950s: (015)

[personal profile] itcamefromthe1950s 2016-01-21 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
No! [NERVOUS THROAT CLEARING since he jumped on that answer a little strongly.]

No, we don't have to do that, I mean, that could be really dangerous if something goes wrong. Dead is fine. I can still do plenty of research that way.

[Then something dawns on him, and he deflates a bit.] Um, that is, if we had access to a lab with any sort of relevant equipment. Is something like that even possible?
undaunts: (oh god don't expect too much from me)

[personal profile] undaunts 2016-01-23 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
....

[She's not a scientist, so.... so she really didn't think of that.

Um...]

... I... don't know! Um. May...be?

[That doesn't sound very hopeful.]

[personal profile] itcamefromthe1950s 2016-01-23 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
I'd hope so, but I'm not even sure where I'd start. Ask CERES, "Hey, you mind if I borrow a lab somewhere for some monster autopsies?"

[He chuckles and shakes his head. Right, sure. But, this gives him a convenient out for doing things like getting face-to-face with very scary, very alive monsters!]

Well, I can work on that, see if I can get some place to work, and then later we can worry about getting out into the jungle. One step at a time, right?
