5/09 - this is probably not a great idea

[Yona has a secret, one that she guards zealously, even from Hak. Actually, especially from Hak. Sometimes, when she tells him she's going to the archery range to practice ... she doesn't. Sometimes, in the evenings, she goes instead to the Entertainment District. She leaves her CereVice behind and watches her back, making sure to take elaborate routes to avoid being followed.

Hak can never, never find out she does karaoke.

Yona's aware that she's a terrible singer (Hak, for one, never lets her forget it). In her homeworld, she rarely even bothered to try. As a spoiled princess, she never had to try; as a fugitive on the run, she was actively discouraged from it. But here in Cerealia, she is neither; she's just a regular person who keeps busy and yet occasionally has free time on her hands and sometimes wants to sing.

Discovering karaoke was like a revelation to her. She didn't have to be good at singing — almost nobody performing in karaoke night could sing! Being good at singing wasn't the point. The point was just to have fun.

She could use some fun tonight.]

[Yona's not exactly the sneakiest person in the world. She definitely looks suspicious as she makes her way through the streets, clearly on high alert. Perhaps you decide to follow her to see if she's up to no good...]

option b - i got more than whiskey in mind
[She's at the bar, trying to order a juice. Man all these drinks have funny names ... Help a girl out?]

option c - jeremiah was a bullfrog, was a good friend of mine
[The music played at this karaoke place is completely alien to Yona — but that certainly doesn't stop her from getting up on stage and singing at the top of her lungs. The results are ... interesting to say the least.]

[Was that innuendo? Yona gives him a look of mild suspicion. If he were Hak, she would have no doubt that he was making fun of her, but surely this stranger doesn't have her bodyguard's raunchy and inappropriate sense of humor.

Does he?

No, of course he doesn't. To the bartender, Yona asks:] Could I get a Mai Tai, please? Ah, without the alcohol! [She's not actually adverse to drinking, but she doesn't want the smell of liquor to give away her whereabouts to Hak.

One virgin Mai Tai, got it, the bartender says, and Yona feels her cheeks go pink. Why is everything so dirty here?]

[He simply smiles at Yona, acting as he usually does even if she does have her suspicions about him and to some degree he can tell.]

So if I may ask, what brings you here anyway? You don't seem like the type of lady to come here often.

[dawnsprincess]

Oh? [She briefly contemplates lying, saying she comes here all the time for the sake of maintaining her cover ... then she realizes What cover?]

I ... just came here for karaoke. I like to sing. What about you?

[He holds up the wine glass in front of him.]

I come here for the drinks. I'd love to hear you sing though, if you don't mind performing in front of someone.

[dawnsprincess]

[Okay performing in front of a large group of strangers is fine, but performing in front of someone she's talked to — someone she practically knows! — well that's a lot more embarrassing.]

I'm, ah, not really very good ... [The bartender slides her her drink and she takes it gratefully. She takes a large sip ... and doesn't notice that the bartender got her order wrong.]

[He takes another sip of his wine before turning his eyes back on Yona.]

Oh no need to be shy, I'll sing along with you if you're nervous.

[dawnsprincess]

You will? [Yona still feels self-conscious, but hearing that makes her much more comfortable. (Or maybe it's the drink, which she's already halfway finished.)] I'll go put our names on the list then! [She quickly finishes off her drink and then realizes —] Oh! I didn't get your name.

[playboyknight]

The name's Angelo. [He gives her a wink as he finishes his own drink up. He used to sing choir, how hard could this be?] What's your name?

[dawnsprincess]

Yona. It's nice to meet you, Angelo! [To the bartender —] Another Mai Tai, please! I'll be right back!

[She scampers off to put their names on the list for going up onstage, a little bounce in her step that hadn't been there before.]

[He's enjoying this way more than he thought he would, maybe before the night is over, he might have a bit more fun. He even watches her as she walks off and waits for her to return, the smile on his face remaining.]

[dawnsprincess]

[Oh, you better hope not too much fun is had, or Hak is going to kill you.

Yona puts their names down on the list and is told they'll get their turn in maybe ten minutes. Which means plenty of time to finish her second drink! She hurries back to the bar.]

Ten minutes! [She tells Angelo, and then —] Is this mine? Thank you!

[And she takes a giant sip. Then starts coughing when it goes down the wrong pipe.]

[Angelo's eyes widen for a brief moment before making sure she's all right. He doesn't need her dying from too many drinks.]

Hey are you all right? Look I know you're excited, but you should slow it down with the drinks.

[dawnsprincess]

I'm fine, I'm fine! [Cough cough] It just — [She shakes her head and finishes coughing. Moving on.]

What song do you want to sing?

[He ponders for a moment.]

What songs do they have listed? I don't think I've heard of these before.

[dawnsprincess]

Hmmmmm.... [Yona looks over the list.] AHA! [She slams her finger down on one song very emphatically. ] THIS ONE!

[It's reminding her of Soo Won. Not that it actually relates in any way to her and Soo Won, but if nothing else, the passion feels right.]

[Angelo stares at the name of the song before blinking. Was she serious? He attempts to sing the song, but Goddess does he feel awkward. What kind of love song was this? Is it a love song at all? He had no clue.]

[TOTALLY SERIOUS. Yona is as serious as you can be while tipsy. Also completely out of tune, but that has nothing to do with being drunk. ]

WE ARE NEVER EVER EVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER!

[Of course they aren't. He killed her father, tried to kill her and Hak ... and he's not here.]

[It feels so good to let this out.]

[Angelo isn't sure how to react right now, Yona is so out of tune and tipsy to boot. He tries to comfort her by calming her down.]

Uh Yona? Maybe we should sing something else? Maybe a duet?

[Yona's voice falters until she stops.]

Eh? A duet? What song is that?

[playboyknight]

[Angelo raises an eyebrow at Yona, but answers her anyway.]

It's not a song, it's a type of singing. Two people sing the same song together.

[dawnsprincess]

[Yona laughs.]

We're already doing that, silly!

[playboyknight]

[He is literally internally forehead slapping.]

I'm going to pick up us a different song.

[He goes to the song list to pick a different one now.]

Oh. Okay! YOU GO TALK TO HOUR FRIENDS TALK TO MY FRIENDS TALK TO MEEEEEEE [she's just going to keep singing until he changes the song]

[He finally picks out this song before taking out one of the microphones as the song begins to change. If he was going to sing, he's going to give it his all.]

Come on, let's do this. [Once the song starts, he takes one of Yona's hands into his then pulls her close as a smirk crosses his expression. His voice isn't terrible either, he might even be singing in a seductive tone.] I can show you the world... Shining, shimmering, splendid. Tell me, princess, now when did you last let your heart decide? I can open your eyes... Take you wonder by wonder... Over, sideways, and under on a magic carpet ride.

[He then twirls Yona around a little before dipping her. He's really getting into it.] A whole new world! A new fantastic point of view! No one to tell us no! Or where to go! Or say we're only dreaming!

[dawnsprincess]

[Yona stumbles as he twirls her — and squawks as he suddenly dips her.]

Waaah! Ah [Oh right it's her turn to sing] A WHOLE NEED WORLD! A DAZZLING PLACE I NEVER KNEW
BUT WHEN I'M WAY UP HERE, IT'S CRYSTAL CLEAR THAT NOW I'M IN A WHOLE NEW WORLD

[She just gets progressively out of tune ... and behind in the beat.]
