Who: Raven (
fishyoldman) & you!
When: 8/2
Where Entertainment District
What: Thanks to the city-wide effects this month, Raven isn't doing so well.
Rating/Warning: G for giant walking spoilers.
[It started at work: a feeling of being more tired than usual, of getting worn out when the day was only half over, a vague ache in Raven's chest. They're all things Raven's used to by now, because that's just how his body is. He doesn't complain about being old for nothing, because more often than not, he feels it. ...Not that it stops him getting by, so as with a lot of things with Raven, his complaints are exaggerated half-truths at best.
Today's a little different, though. As well as that unusual tiredness, on his way home through the Entertainment District he's hit by a sudden shortness of breath, and a sharp ache that tells him his heart isn't working like it should. He stops to brace himself against the nearest wall, clutching his chest until he stops feeling so breathless.]
C'mon, stupid body. Let's move it...
[Raven mutters it under his breath, urging himself to move before he makes a scene. He does debate whether he should call Rideaux, but it's not an emergency, right? And pestering the guy involves more energy than he really has right now. So it seems like he's stuck here, at least until he feels up for moving again.]

[To her question, he experimentally pushes away from the wall, using his own weight instead of leaning on Felicia. He winces as he does so, and he still feels unusually tired, but the worst of his heart acting up seems to have passed.]
...Thanks. I think I'll be okay.

At least let me walk you back to your house? You didn't look okay, and I'm gonna be worrying all night if I don't know you got back to....where ever you stay safely.
no subject
[He's joking, but he really could, as much as his compliments don't have any effect on her. He'll wait for her while she goes to fetch her groceries.]
I'll make it back, I'm just tired is all. But if ya live in the residential district, we're headed in the same direction anyway.
no subject
[Even if she was clumsy and graceless, she was comfortable in her own skin. That alone was more than a lot of people could say.]
And where else would I live, if not in the Residential District? That makes no sense, and I'd want to walk you back anyway.
[She leaned in, getting into his personal space, and looked up at him earnestly.]
It's that thing in you, isn't it? [She whispered-- because she had noticed him clutching at his chest, and she did the math on her own.] Do you think a doctor here can help with that? I hear they can do some amazing things.
no subject
[And since then he hasn't made any assumptions whatsoever about all the different people and their preferences here. Different strokes for different folks and all that stuff.
Ironically for Raven, he actually seems a little flustered when Felicia gets all up into his personal space like that, even leaning back a little. What she says next doesn't help matters.]
H-hey, it ain't nice ta just jump ta conclusions like that...! [Even if his lack of any outright denial will confirm her suspicions are correct.]
no subject
[She might be oblivious to flirtations, but she wasn't unobservant. A persons actions and behaviors when they were hurt often told far more than their words would, especially if they were the sort to downplay everything that was happening to them.
The fact that she was in his personal space, however, hadn't even registered.]
It's okay. There's no secrets between people who have seen eachother without clothes. I'll keep it quiet, but please be honest with me about what's hurting you.
no subject
That thing your talkin' about... It's my heart. It ain't workin' so well, and it makes me a little tired whenever that happens.
[He says it like it's nothing serious, but there was a reason he's been so evasive about it until now.]

[Felicia clamped a hand on top of her mouth once she realized how loud she had been, and shifted the grocery bags in her hands so she could better support him if he needed it. The look of worry, however, never left her eyes as her mind raced over the various possibilities of what could have happened.
She highly doubted dragons were involved, but that didn't stop her imagination.]
How have you been able to get by with that....uhm, machine? That machine doing what's supposed to happen naturally?
no subject
[He looks away gravely. Even with that whole beach incident when he first got here, he'd hoped he would be able to sweep that whole thing under the carpet. After all, they've all had much bigger worries on their minds.
Seems like he's really just having crummy luck here.]
I lost the original a long time ago. I don't really have a choice but to get by with it.
no subject
I see. Strange as it is, it's doing you a great service...and now I see why you said the doctors here can't help.
But, Raven? I want you to promise me that you'll ask for help if it gives you problems. I can't do much, but I do have some healing spells that might make it a little easier for you.
no subject
It's not an injury, so there isn't much to be done with healing magic. But I appreciate the thought.
[Plus, he just really hates making promises he can't keep. They always come back to bite him later.]
no subject
[Even if it was just a little-- but a little was a all that was needed for his breathing to seem somewhat steadier.]
Do you at least have others here who know about it, in case there's trouble?
no subject
[And then there's that Rideaux guy he paid off to help him out, though Raven's still making up his mind whether that guy's dependable or not, so he doesn't exactly get a mention.]
no subject
[She smiled now, feeling relieved with that sort of news.]
He's a nice person, I can tell. And now I know who to call if I ever find you stuck in some dark alley because something stopped working!
no subject
[Except everything about him screams shady, but you know.]
no subject
[Right down to the distinct fashion and the tendency to compliment her for reasons that she just didn't understand.]
You're a little nicer than him, but a Shady Alley Person is still a Shady Alley Person.
no subject
[His feelings are so hurt! On top of the other things hurting.]
no subject
[She held onto his arm tightly, just in case.]
And that wasn't a bad thing. A Shady Alley Person can still be a Good Person! Shady Alleys don't make a person good or bad!
no subject
[Except not really. Though he's just teasing her, so he'll just pat her hand awkwardly where she's clinging onto him. There there?]
But seriously... I should make tracks while I'm feelin' better. I'd appreciate it if ya didn't spread what I told ya around, okay?
no subject
Don't worry-- I don't tell anyone. Just..be careful, okay? You're sure you can make it on your own?
no subject
[He can't predict whether his heart will hold up at the best of times, much less now when he doesn't know what's causing this particular problem. But likewise, he won't cause a fuss over something that's a pretty normal occurrence to him.]
