[ Athena had a shift today at the cosplay cafe, and she was really excited about it! It was always fun being there, since she gets to meet a lot of people. Free food was also involved sometimes, and that was the best part.

…

But today was a bust.

She was even excited to talk to customers with a pirate accent, since that was what she was cosplaying as today. A pirate! You just can't have it all.

Instead of just waiting inside for people to come in, she goes out into the street just by the cafe. She wasn't finishing her work today without showing off her cute costume. Holding out her fake sword and pointing it at any person who passes by, she exclaims: ]

It's into the cafe or Davy Jones' Locker, ye knave!

Of course, anyone who works at the cosplay cafe is also free to stop her from possibly embarrassing herself and the establishment. ]

[ It wasn't even that late! It was just an hour or so before sundown, but a police officer robot thing approaches Athena and tells her to go home. She's not even sure why she's being told to do so, when she's not even a minor. Was it because she was little? Whatever the reason, she felt very insulted by this. ]

I'm on my way to buy some food!

[ But the officer seemed very insistent that she should go home before sundown since it wasn't safe. "Look, kid. You better head home before dark, or else you could get in trouble." ]

I'm not a kid!

[ And if it wasn't her stating that she wants to buy food that could catch someone's attention, it's her yelling that she's not a kid, because she can be loud. Now is one of those times.

Again, the officer continues to believe in its own opinion that Athena is much younger than she truly is, and decides to walk her home that very instant, grabbing her by the wrist. But Athena doesn't take kindly to people giving her unwanted physical contact. She quickly grabs the officer's wrist then moves to turn, her back facing the cop, then she crouches as she pulls its arm to throw him to the ground.

… But she may have thrown her a bit too far. The officer probably hits an innocent passer-by or the space very close to said passer-by.

Alright.

[ Takes the menu back, and jots his orders down on a notepad. ]

Tea's a great drink for when you're studying! [ She's not really sure if Shirou was going to spend his day studying at the cafe, but she's spent a ton of nights studying back then. And all she had with her were her books and some tea to keep her awake. ] What kind of sandwich, and tea would you like?

[projections]

I can agree with that statement. Tea can help you clear your mind and you'll be able to focus more. Well, I'll take anything but kelp tea. [It's too gross.]

Do you have green tea? And I'll order a chicken sandwich with it.

[psycholawgy]

Gotcha! [ Gives him a thumbs up. ] Wait here, I'll get your orders ready.

[ And off she goes! Shirou better enjoy the few moments of silence he has while he can. ]

[projections]

I won't go anywhere so take your time. [He'll enjoy every second of silence.]

[psycholawgy]

[ She comes back out a couple minutes later with Shirou's food, and serves it while humming a tune. ]

Hereee you go! I hope you enjoy!

[projections]

They put it together so neatly and it looks great.

Thanks Athena. I'll come by here again some other time.

[psycholawgy]

[ She's going to expect Shirou to be a regular now. ]

Great!

Oh, by the way, do you know a guy named Archer?

[projections]

[Shirou will come by more often, but Athena's question makes him nearly choke on his sandwich.]

Archer's someone I know from back home. Why? Did you meet him?

[psycholawgy]

[ She told herself she wouldn't tease Archer about it anymore, but. . . maybe Shirou's reaction might be funny. ]

Maybe. [ And after a short pause: ] I heard he's your dad.

[projections]

Archer isn't my dad and I can't have you thinking that. [ Just shaking his head. Rock Lee what have you done? Shirou wants to quickly clear this misunderstanding.]

I'll let you in on a secret, but only if you promise not to tell anyone else.

[psycholawgy]

[ That sends her all the delight. She loves secrets. ]

I won't, I won't! You can trust me.

[projections]

I'll trust you. [Athena seems trustworthy enough.]

There's no way Archer can be my father since he's me. This is hard for me to say because I hate that guy. [He's too mad and he can't enjoy his food anymore. Archer is literally the worst.]

[psycholawgy]

He's who?!

[ She's surprised, and that's an understatement. She does move closer to look at Shirou's face. There's a tiny resemblance, but... ]

Are you sure?!

[projections]

Archer's me and I'm sure. You don't need to look at me closely so you can confirm it for yourself. [Shirou's frowning intensely when he says that.]

Sorry for telling you something strange so suddenly.

[psycholawgy]

[ He's definitely not lying, at least. But it sure was a lot to take in.

She smiles at Shirou as she places a hand on his shoulder. ]

Sorry to get you mad all of a sudden.

[projections]

You have nothing to apologize for. [It's cool Athena.]

I told you my secret so now you understand everything. We resemble each other, but it's not because we're family.

How do you even meet Archer?

[psycholawgy]

Well. . .

[ A wee bit unsure if she should tell the story, but since Shirou entrusted her with something big, she could at least share a little story. ]

He posted on the network about a lot of stuff, [ And she only got the part about not being Shirou's dad. ] and then we met up. He lies a lot.

[projections]

Somehow I'm not surprised to hear you say that. Archer's definitely a liar. [Not even going to deny it.]

Let me know if he causes you too much trouble. I'll speak to his Master and maybe she can do something about it.

[psycholawgy]

Oh, it's fine. [ Waves a hand dismissively. ] I got him under control.

[ She realises after saying that that it was weird... She has Shirou's future self (probably?!) under control. ]

I mean, he's nothing to worry about.

[ There, maybe her phrasing was better. ]

[projections]

I'll try not to worry then. [Key word here is "try" because Shirou will still worry anyways.] Actually, I'm more shocked you can handle him.

Archer's got attitude and he's difficult to deal with. Have you dealt with liars in the past?

[psycholawgy]

Yeah, even if I didn't want to.

[ She covers both her ears as she speaks. ]

I can hear people's emotions. It's-- I don't know. I was born with special hearing. So when people lie, I can tell because I can hear the discord in their voices.

[ And she takes her hands off as she smiles. ]

It's pretty convenient, especially in the cases I handle.

[projections]

No kidding. [He nods in agreement.] They're plenty of criminals out there and they have every reason to lie.

It's good that you can use your ability and catch them before it's too late.

[psycholawgy]

[ Nod, nod. ]

Yup! It takes some time to figure certain things out, but it's pretty pointless to lie while I'm around.

[projections]

I have no intention of lying to you.

It's better to tell the truth, even if it's hard to say otherwise you might end up hurting someone.

[psycholawgy]

[ She frowns. ]

If only every witness thought the same. It's such a challenge.
