![]() It's been a whole month without any new arrivals. Who knows why? If you ask CERES, they won't bother with any in-depth explanations. They will simply claim that none of the code out there has been responding to their recovery methods, so they had to rework a lot of their technology. However, after several weeks of grueling work, they have finally experienced success! A fresh new batch of faces is coming in, and to celebrate their arrival and the real upcoming holidays, CEO Julius Vincere has arranged for a Christmas-themed carnival for all to enjoy. Those who arrive will wake up in Cerealia and be given a long, boring explanation and powerpoint as per usual before being ushered onto a bus (there is no escape. The robots will force you onto the bus one way or another). You will be unwillingly carted to the theme park where you will be immediately assaulted by a giant array of lights followed by several rides that you can enjoy. After you disembark from the bus, one of the snowman robots will be waiting to give you tickets to the rides and show you around as part of the Grand Opening. The amusement park will remain open for the rest of the month of December so anyone can visit as they please. The first couple tickets will also be on the house for new arrivals, but the rest will have to be bought with credits, so choose wisely! (Or try and sneak into the rides -- then face the wrath of the snowman robots and their snowman firearms :D)

[Peko's seated peacefully enough in the Ferris wheel; she wasn't really looking forward to any of the rides, but this on should (in theory) give her a splendid vantage point to look for a certain new arrival whose presence she's not aware of yet. Thus, she's seated as close to the window as possible, only giving those who happen to climb aboard with her a cursory glance before returning her attention to the ground below.
There's a katana propped up next to her between her and the door, so sitting too closely is Not Recommended.]
If it is not too much trouble, [she mentions to whomever comes on board, pointing to the opposite window without looking,] Could you please indicate if you see this person?
[There's an electronic student ID sitting on the seat next to her, displaying some loser's profile. Those who can read Japanese can see that his name is Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu, and he has the title of Super High School Level Yakuza (whatever that means).]
II
[Funhouses are supposed to be a good training exercise, right?? Like a haunted house, entering one and trying not to overreact and slice everything around you to bits is good training. Or so she'd tried to think. That attitude doesn't last long, especially considering the sharp katana at her hip. The specters, of course, aren't harmed by her lightning-quick strikes, and when the lights come back on, Peko's pushing herself to her feet, breathing heavily. She makes no move to sheath her blade, and will continue walking with the katana drawn, just in case.
Might not be a bad person to stick close to for protection in case another breakdown happens, right?]
Bonus
[Yeah, no, Peko's not waiting until she gets home to open her presents. Or, well, all of them, anyway. She gets as far as opening the "mistletoe" and reading it before immediately dropping it back in the box. That's. Nope. Not even opening that last one. She just kind of leaves it sitting on the beach next to her, trying not to flush because she never asked for this. She was hoping for a weapon, or maybe a foodstuff?? Not this.]
Choose your own adventure!
[Peko can be found almost anywhere in the park, walking with purpose and staring at every person who even comes close. She's obviously looking for someone; most people who've been here for a while will know exactly who it is she's looking for. There's a katana at her side, and a shinai on her back.
She also is kind of looking for a carousel, too. That would be nice.]
bonus;
[ Cue a fairly short girl - 4'11", which compared to Peko is...well, small - peering at the box and sort of leaning towards it curiously. She didn't want to go sit on santabot's lap, so she's just been poking around other people's presents...
Because, well. Why not? ]

Nothing interesting. I advise not bothering to get one yourself, as it is a waste of time.
[And then Trucy gets a second look because usually children are afraid of her... granted this one doesn't look to be all that much younger than herself but the point still stands.]
no subject
Wellllllllll...I could skip getting one if I got to see what you got! But otherwise, I guess I'll just have to give into overwhelming curiosity! I mean, otherwise I'll be wondering all day, you know? What was in that box...? That box that mysterious glasses girl was looking at...

You're looking for this individual? Or testing an optical illusion? [ 'wow can you see it??? i want to make sure it's real!!' sounds silly but tbh after murderpark nothing in the realm of unreality is too silly to her ]
no subject
[Peko does turn to look at the person boarding more closely then, but no dice. There's no hint of recognition at all.]
Are you new here?
no subject
[ shaking her head. Oh, well. Another memloss, another day. Not like she really got along with Peko back there, anyway, so it's no real loss to her. ]
Negative. It's been a few months.
(no subject)
I!
Yeah, if I see him I'll yell or someth- [Oh hi katana and scary looking girl????]
You know, that sword isn't exactly gunna make anyone want to just come up to you and tell you where someone is.
no subject
It is sheathed. I see no need to draw it.
[So you're safe??]
It is normally best to carry a weapon in this place.
no subject
Uhhhhh, if you say so I guess...! It's just, I'd be careful about telling someone who's carrying around a sword like that. You know, just in case...
[His voice trails off, the last bit of the sentence being 'in case you were gunna kill them' but Peko is a little intimidating, to say the least.]

WHEN A VIDEO GAME/ANIME USES WESTERN ORDER and i'm all how do i do this
I UNDERSTAND YOUR PAIN FRIEND...
i don't have even a remotely appropriate icon for this. that said, it's yakuza adventure o'clock
[But also, there's the fact that she's been here for a whole month without him. And he'd gone nearly two weeks back home without her. He knows he changed a lot in that short amount of time...what happened to Peko without him? As much as he'd like to think she'd be better off, he's not sure if that's what happened. And it just makes for a whole bunch of uncertainties.]
[...triple also: he's not sure if he wants their reunion to be in an amusement park of all places. Maybe he should try calling her and have him meet her somewhere else? No...no calling her is like a wussy half step, the only thing worse would be to text her. No. This has to be done in person.]
[He gets so wrapped up in his anxious thoughts over what to do, that he manages to power walk smack into the back of the person he's looking for. He really should have been paying more attention to what was right in front of him, instead of paying attention to what might be around in the general vicinity. Also the fact that he can't see out of his right eye doesn't help things. If he's looking to his left, of course he's not going to see what's right in front of him. And that's basically exactly what happened.]
[He takes a step backwards, rubbing the side of his head where it collided with Peko's shinai and looking offended. He starts talking before he even looks to see what he ran into though, mistake #2.]
H-Hey! Watch where you're go-- [Only Kuzuryuu would attempt to blame someone else for his own incompetence and failure to look where he's going.] --ing.
[Well crap he's out of time to come up with something to say now. He also completely ruined the chance of the two of them having A Moment. You know something super meaningful and poignant, maybe even semi-romantic. Instead we get this shit: literal run-ins followed by wordless, awkward gaping. God, say something you idiot.]
...Peko.
[Okay, well that's something but that's a useless something so it's almost like he didn't say anything at all. Jesus take the wheel, Kuzuryuu obviously can't be trusted with it.]
[Additionally, Peko might notice a faint cut on his left cheek, just below his eye. It looks fairly recent, as though it happened maybe an hour or so ago, tops; so but thankfully it's no longer bleeding. He had a run in with the rollercoaster and has not gone on any rides since then. Of course, this is all assuming she's not too distracted by the eyepatch. Or just...the heir in general, really. It the bocchan. He here. Surprise, it's a Christmas Miracle or something.
not even remotely]same... same...
She'd have thought that the young master was more than distinctive enough, more than loud enough that at least someone she'd asked would know whether or not he was here. Maybe she'd been asking the wrong people? There certainly seemed to be quite a few more park-goers than she's used to seeing in the city. After speaking with Maribelle, it's clear that there are (finally!) new arrivals, among whom are several of her classmates. Why not one more...
Peko's still looking in that same way she has been since she came here, surveying the area, studying everything with a too-intense gaze and not... really thinking about what she's going to do if she does see him. It feels as if she's looked so many times that she doesn't dare get her hopes up, carefully trying to tamp down on the rising emotion every time she passes by someone who, from their conversations, seems to be new here.
She's paused at a corner between two food stalls, trying to decide if she should head left or right, when there's an impact just below her shoulder blades. In an instant, she's lunging forward and twisting around, one hand on the katana at her waist instead of the shinai at her back. She doesn't trust those hugging robots not to squeeze too hard, or try to electrocute her, or something.
Instead, she hears his voice as she's turning, her grip loosening on the hilt of her sword before she's even fully turned around. It can't be. This is far too good to be true, to have him be literally behind her. She almost doesn't hear what he's saying as her eye flick over his face, his whole body, as if just to confirm that he's really here in front of her, that this isn't some cruel joke of a hologram or a robot or worse.
Her gaze lingers just a little too long on that eyepatch -- she'd known it was coming, she'd even talked about it with others, but -- seeing it herself is something entirely different on a face she knew as well as or better than her own. And then there's the fleck of blood from a cut on his cheek that knits her brows together in concern. Honestly, it's that more than anything that convinces her that it's not an illusion. What illusion would have a recent injury? And look exactly like him, when the only picture she's had of him doesn't contain the eyepatch?
But wait, he's pausing there. Has been for a few seconds, now. She hadn't really been listening to him, which is usually a Mistake, but wait, okay, the only thing she'd really missed was her name. All the planning she'd tried to do over the last month, all the scenarios and things she'd thought about saying and things she'd rejected saying all kind of crash into the front of her mind at once, and she can't say any of them at all beyond a quiet, whispered,]
You're here...
[And with that, once she finally manages to actually open her mouth and say words, it's like the cliche dam metaphor as she surges forward, two quick steps to wrap him carefully in her arms as if he might break. Once she realizes that no, no her arms aren't going through him, her grip tightens fiercely as she steps in the rest of the way, closing the distance between them to all but wrap herself around him. She can just add this to the list of things to apologize for if he doesn't want a hug.
He could totally push her away if he wanted to. Struggle or make the fact that her hugging him was unwelcome known by any other means. Before he does, though, she has to get out a mumbled, hesitant,] I missed you.
[Understatement of the century right there. She's trying, she's really trying, but she can't stop the tears from welling up in sheer relief. She is like, five seconds away from total waterworks as she buries her nose against the top of his head. Now is the time to retreat before snotfest 2k15 starts.]
woe is us. we'll never be iconally prepared for these reunions
[Plus, that gives him some more time to think about what he actually wants to say... Because he has even less of a clue now than he did thirty seconds ago.]
[Weirdly enough though, he doesn't pull when she wraps her arms around him. He doesn't push or shove or struggle at all, really. In fact, he doesn't react at all. He doesn't even confirm that yes, he is here, good going Peko you got it. It's not until that quiet "I missed you" that he finally does something other than stand there doing his best impression of a mannequin.]
[His arms are trembling slightly as he raises them to, not so much hug Peko back as sort of vaguely wrap them around her waist and hold onto the back of her shirt. It's almost like he's worried that if he holds her too closely or too tightly, she'll turn out to be fake. Like she'll just disappear in a string of ones and zeros or something because how dare he be genuinely happy about something for once.]
I... [His voice comes out much hoarser than he intended, and if Peko were in a position where she could see his eye right now, she'd notice that it's fairly glassy already. Dammit, he's not going to cry. Especially not in a crowd full of people GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER, MAN. YOU'RE FINE. Even if it's kind of a happy cry, no breakdowns allowed until you're in the safety of a private room somewhere that isn't in a crappy theme park. His fists clench a little tighter on the back of her shirt.]
...I missed you too.
[More than she'll ever know, really. Well, more than she'll ever know so long as everyone who DIDN'T die before chapter three keeps their damn mouths shut. So one of these days she could very well learn about how he basically didn't shut up about her after she died.]

She sure doesn't seem happy with her box, though, which is all the more reason to book it and dump his.]
Did your gift displease you?

[Peko moves the gift to stack it atop the other one, clearing a space for the other to sit and nodding a polite(?) greeting.
But ugh, that present... she feels like she should chuck it right in the trash and pretend she never saw it, it is so inappropriate to give as a gift to a high schooler????]
Yes, I suppose that is as good a term as any for it.
...What did you receive?

But the question has Kaoru's gaze dropping to the box and then skyward briefly, in a "lord help me" sort of look. Life is hard in Cereal.]

Heung Soo actually recognizes the girl, although there's something a little.. different about Peko today? Something in her expression, considering she seemed fairly stone-faced before, but now as she's sitting there with that gift box..
The part of him that can't help but motherhen others makes him approach her, a small frown on his face (although it's more curious and worried than anything else, but his eyebrows make it look much more intimidating..) ]
Is something wrong?
[ "You seem off", he means, but he's trying to save her dignity and his own here by not saying it out loud. ]

[If there's anything that constantly surprises her, it's when others show concern. It's enough to startle her attention away from the box, though her expression settles into something like its usual coolness once she recognizes him.]
Ah... no. Tell me, did you receive one of these already...?
[THE GIFT BOXES... she just kind of hurriedly puts one atop the other to get it out of her hands.]
no subject
[ He answers fairly calmly.. mostly since he doesn't know what's in those boxes. At all. Otherwise he'd be pretty glad he hasn't gotten one of them yet. ]
.. are they dangerous? [ Look, he's trying to guess something from her expression here, okay. It's obvious something is up, he just.. doesn't know what exactly.. ]

[Mabel is a little worse for wear, the roller coaster having been her first and last ride of the day, but despite that her usual bright and friendly smile is firmly in place.]

God that was embarrassing though SHE'LL JUST PRETEND THAT NEVER HAPPENED. She keeps her expression carefully bored and disinterested when she answers the girl's question.]
Probably. [You might as well give a straight yes, Zero...] You looking for a kid or something?

A classmate, [she corrects. As unbelievable as it might seem with that babyface, he is indeed a high schooler like herself...] Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu. He is... very important to me.

Which was just enough time for the big guy to snatch him up and fling him to the ground after her. ]
Fuck—! [ Monsters 2, Humans 0. He’d dropped that sword of his in the impact, but picking it back up wasn’t as much of a priority as getting the kid out of here.
Never mind that she’s up on her feet before he is. ]
Oi… [ Does it bother him that this little girl’s carrying a sword around and seems to actually know how to use it? Definitely. But he’ll worry about the specifics of that later. ]
Let’s get out of here already. Come on.
no subject
[She's not moving to put that sword away, either, just briefly checking herself for injuries before moving forward. Koujaku gets a careful, appraising glance as if she's trying to assess whether or not he's a threat, then she just nods, meaning to move past him.]
You watch the left, [she orders, turning her attention more toward the right.] I would recommend not running, as that may trigger it again.
