![]() It's morning when the lights go out completely. Not a single one remains on except the glow of the device and whatever flashlights anyone bothered to stock up on. However, a single hologram in the Shopping District broadcasts along a billboard for a Very Important Announcement. After that, you hear a song so tender and beautiful that it must have been composed by angels at the dawn of time. "Baby, you light up my world like nobody else. The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed… " When you go outside to investigate, a friendly clown will be inside a stolen(?) ice cream truck, looking to get all your attention before he talks through the speaker on the truck.

Welcome to CEREALIA's fourth official event. For your convenience, we have compiled an OOC post explaining the event in greater detail. Feel free to ask questions there if you have anymore lingering concerns or inquiries. |

In a matter of speaking. Crescent Rose will be doing all the heavy lifting though.

Whenever you're ready, then.

[There's a flash of light, a loud sound and they're flying high into the air. Ruby angles the weapon parallel with the ground after a moment and shoots another round, sending them flying backward until they land on a nearby rooftop, though grace is probably not all that high on Ruby's priorities.]
You okay?
no subject
Aaaaaaargh!
[They're flying backward and he finds himself shutting his eyes for a few moments, not quite enjoying the thrill. A flight on a nice safe airplane was so much better - not that he didn't appreciate Ruby's efforts, of course. He did!
When they land, his fingers are trembling and he's taking a few deep breaths to calm himself.]
...Y-Yes...I'm fine...

Sorry 'bout not warning you, but if those thugs knew what I was planning they might've rushed us at the wrong time and I could've accidentally hurt them.
Any idea what caused all this?

How anyone can think of something like this as a game is... sick.
[She takes a moment to pull her hood up over her head and hold Crescent Rose against her shoulder as she peers over the edge of the building.]
...And as many people as showed up for it...
no subject
But if they are locals, what would they gain, as this is their home?

I'm more concerned with what I saw behind them to be honest. I can't say for sure what I saw exactly but... when I fired Crescent Rose, the light of the muzzle flare showed me... something waiting in the shadows. Like... right beyond the range of the lights.
No longer than I could see them, I'm not even sure I saw anything more than a weird shadow but... I can't shake the feeling that there's something out there, watching. Waiting. Something that isn't human.

After a quick glance at the sides of the rooftop, he takes out his organizer and notes down Ruby's observations.]
Can you describe the appearance of the shadow?
no subject
I didn't get a good enough look. All I could tell is that it was big...

[She sighs and shrugs.]

[He's musing mostly to himself right now, but Ruby can hear him loud and clear.]
no subject
Well, it would make the people that do get their lanterns taken vulnerable...

I have no idea what they're after. Could be anything really...

[He's torn between staying safe and just coordinating with the folk he knows...and venturing into that darkness armed with a saber, a lantern, and his powers.]

I'm going to have to disagree with you, Mr. Edgeworth. Humanity knows next to nothing about the Grimm in our world yet we've been surviving quite well. We don't need to know why they do what they do, just what they do.
They don't come into the light, so that's our top priority, keeping our lanterns. We can worry about the rest afterward.
no subject
Point taken, but I would prefer a more precise answer to the question of what they do.

No, I'm actually supposed to meet up with Yang around here once she's finished with her patrol. When this all started we decided we'd try and help as many people as we could.
