[All right, so it's a few days later than intended, but when the night that you plan a party just completely disappears into a mess of mayhem and murderous Santas, well, you improvise. At least, that's been Komaeda's plan. After making sure to let everyone know about the rescheduling, it's just a matter of coordinating.

So here it is. Here they are.

The decorations -- courtesy of Souda -- are up: streamers, balloons, matching party hats all in varying shades of red, black and white. They're draped around the small apartment along with what is probably an oversupply of party poppers. The food is set out in the kitchen and most everywhere else.

There's even a punchbowl that's probably not spiked yet, but how long can that really last anyway? Music -- somewhat questionable in some of its variety -- plays quietly in the background. And outside the apartment, up on the roof of the building for later, the yakuza have provided some festive explosives fireworks.

Perfect night for a party. And Hinata's the kind of guy who deserves a good party. Right? Right. Only rules are: no murdering anyone and have some fun.]

That thought aside, Hinata does take it when she offers it, looking to her as though silently asking can I look inside? before he just does it anyway, he's curious.]

Ah... I'll definitely use it, Pekoyama, if you'll have me for practicing.

[She gives him a small nod to indicate that yes, he's allowed to open it! She wouldn't have been too offended even if she'd said no and he's opened it anyway, honestly, but she's glad to see him open it. She just nods again, crossing her arms now that she's not holding anything.]

I would. That bag can hold up to three similar weapons, so when the time comes, you will be able to carry a true blade.

This's really great. [EARNESTLY. Thank you for giving something he can put his weapons in!!] I didn't have anything like this, so when something dangerous happens again, this will really come in handy.

[Much easier to carry around a katana... He was set for his spear and his knife, but he had nothing to put his sword in.]

[Oh no, she doesn't know how to react to someone being genuinely happy about something she did... expression.exe is starting to crash, her lips just curving into a bit of a confused frown. Fortunately she doesn't get the chance to overthink it too much to loop around to her scary smile, instead nodding when Hinata speaks again.]

Yes... even if your life did not belong to the young master, I would want to see you safe.

[No, wait, okay, she knows the response to this.]

I am... pleased that you like it.

[Does my life belong to him after all...? He's not surprised but he's sort of surprised... He doesn't even know how to react to that. Is he yakuza after all?!]

I really do. I mean, it's almost like we match.

[Points at her sword bag, then points to his... yes. Matching swim trunks in the case of Souda is a resounding and forever NO but this he will happily take.]

[WELCOME TO THE FAMILY, HINATA.... or at least Peko seems to think so. Kuzuryuu didn't explicitly state it one way or another.]

Ah-- [She flushes a little, glancing back at her own bag before looking to the one she'd given him. It's not wrong! She'd even done it a little purposefully, because what if the two of them have to work together to defend the young master--! Or something.]

...Yes, I suppose we do. [And there it is, she manages a ghost of one of those little smiles she's utterly terrible at making on purpose.] And that... is not a bad thing at all.

[Kuzuryuu's probably taken care of even if he just had Pekoyama to defend him-- though Hinata would do his part, of course!! That's just natural, looking out for one's friends!

He stares for a moment, surprised because they weren't even talking about Kuzuryuu (well, indirectly they kind of were) and here's one of her smiles! He grins back.]

Definitely. I like it, actually, it makes you feel even closer with someone, right? [BARRING SOUDA he's fine with keeping that small distance and lack of matching items 5ever.]

[It's not even because of indirect Kuzuryuu reference that she's smiling! This time, it's almost entirely thanks to Hinata himself. Don't get too used to it, though...]

...Yes. I am glad we are such good friends.

And I will make sure this party goes well.

[Hinata deserves nothing but the best, after all, and Peko will make absolutely sure there are no murders this time. This class can get their murder on some other time.]

[HE WILL ENDEAVOUR not to get too used to it... but he's not giving up. She did give him a joke book for Christmas and he fully intends on using it.]

[He looks around with a smile.] I don't think there's any reason for it not to.

[Maybe the book has some lessons on delivery too--!!]

I hope that's the case.

[While it doesn't express the most cheery sentiment, she actually means that genuinely. It would be nice for them to have a party where none of them do anything (too) weird, no one gets hurt, and, wonder of wonders, no one get killed.]

But I do not want to take up too much of your time. I am certain there are other people here who would like to wish you well.

[A pause but he nods.] Okay. We'll catch each other later anyway. I'm going to go put this away somewhere safe, first. [He lightly lifts her present to indicate, grinning.]

[Another nod in return! He is the birthday boy so he should make sure to spend as much time with other people as possible. Even she knows she's not the best conversationalist...

Also it sounds like she's expecting him to eventually start carrying that bag everywhere. Incredible.]
