What: A small gathering to celebrate a belated New Years Eve and Hinata's birthday (also belated)
Rating/Warning: NERDS. EVERYWHERE.

[All right, so it's a few days later than intended, but when the night that you plan a party just completely disappears into a mess of mayhem and murderous Santas, well, you improvise. At least, that's been Komaeda's plan. After making sure to let everyone know about the rescheduling, it's just a matter of coordinating.

So here it is. Here they are.

The decorations -- courtesy of Souda -- are up: streamers, balloons, matching party hats all in varying shades of red, black and white. They're draped around the small apartment along with what is probably an oversupply of party poppers. The food is set out in the kitchen and most everywhere else.

There's even a punchbowl that's probably not spiked yet, but how long can that really last anyway? Music -- somewhat questionable in some of its variety -- plays quietly in the background. And outside the apartment, up on the roof of the building for later, the yakuza have provided some festive ~~explosives~~ fireworks.

Perfect night for a party. And Hinata's the kind of guy who deserves a good party. Right? Right. Only rules are: no murdering anyone and have some fun.]

[Hinata wonders if Naegi's filled her in yet, so for a moment it crosses his mind as she approaches him.

He nods in thanks, smiling in turn.]

Thanks, Kirigiri. How are you?

[Well the mayhem before might've impeded settling in but--]

I'm fine. I've gotten used to this city, for the most part.

[ Aside from the whole incident over New Years... ]

I hope you're enjoying yourself.

I am. They all put a lot of work into this.

[He can enjoy it out of appreciation alone--]

Did you meet everyone else before this?

No. There's quite a few people here I don't recognize.

[ And she actually feels pretty out of place, but she still felt like she should go regardless. ]

Some of them are my friends from home, but others are people who I met here.

[He folds his arms with a thoughtful expression.]

My classmates... well, they'd probably be interested in talking to you. [Given the similar circumstances they come from. Here, Hinata's tentatively feeling things out, to see if she knows already.]

[ Going off of what Naegi told her, there's no doubt they would be. ]

I can imagine. I would be interested in talking to them as well. [ Anything to help fill in the gap in her own memories, and what might have happened to the others. ]

So, Kirigiri...

[Yes, let's bring this up now, why not, he'll go for it--] Has Naegi told you about us?

[ Good, she was hoping Hinata would bring it up himself. ]

Yes, he told me as much as he knows.

[ She pauses, considering what to say. ]

...I was angry when I found out. However, my future self went along with the plan Naegi told me about, so I must have had faith in all of you. I don't see why I shouldn't have that faith now.

[ But trust, that still has to be earned. ]

...Thanks.

[He wouldn't ask for trust right away, not after what all of them have done, certainly not when she's from a time before knowing about helping them, or anything. But he appreciates the belief, and ducks his head.]

I'll do my best so that I won't let that down.

[And, of course, to earn her trust.]

[ Kyouko smiles. The fact that he was honest with her and Naegi already shows that he's trying--and she's sure the others are as well--and that's all she can ask for, after everything that's happened in their world. ]

I believe you. I appreciate your honesty with Naegi and I.

[ After all, it would have been easy to hide once he found out they weren't from the same time. ]

Aa... Well, I think you guys should know about everything, too.

[They have more than a right to know about it all, being so entangled in everything that had happened.]

So if there's anything more I can answer, I will.

[Honesty, and facing what he's done in the past is part of moving forward, too.]

To be honest, I'm still processing everything. I will let you know when I have questions.

[ And since he's offering to answer any questions she has... ]

If you have questions for me as well, I wouldn't mind answering.

...Yeah, it's a lot to take in. Some of my friends didn't know about all of it either when they got here, so I told them it all then...

[He's still not quite certain what they think of it all and does kind of want to bring it up, but it can be difficult.

Timing things is difficult.]

But if I think of anything, I'll be sure to ask you, Kirigiri.

[ It really is, and she wonders what she'll have to do if someone who didn't survive to the end shows up. ]

I hope your classmates took everything you told them well.

[Hinata frowns slightly, casting his mind to it.]

It was... a hard thing for them to hear. But they all listened.

[So he thinks their willingness to was as good a start as he could've hoped for.]

[ She nods. ]

Understandable. It's a lot to take in. I can only hope my own classmates are as willing to listen.

[ She thinks they will be, but coming from a situation like that it's hard to tell how they will react. ]

Even besides the info about us... it might be tough otherwise, right? Depending on which of your classmates may come, and what they've experienced of what you guys went through...

[Though... Fujisaki had been willing to listen, back in Haven. He'd been very kind, but Hinata could hardly expect anything else from Nanami's father. And Maizono, too...]

[ That's true. There's a lot of different factors involved, especially when it comes to who arrives. ]

Yes. That's a situation I've been preparing myself for. It may be best to give them details slowly, so they aren't overwhelmed.

Yeah, that's what I've tried to do when it's happened for me.

[Since they do have the luxury of time here-- back in Haven it had been a little different, but here there are lulls where they don't have to be constantly on edge.]

Since they gotta take in this place too.

You're right. I can only hope nothing too out of the ordinary happens when a classmate arrives... It would be much easier for them to adjust that way.

[ Just... no killer elves would be nice. ]

Yeah... But we should be prepared for something happening then... I mean, something usually does.

[With new arrivals as well as sometime in-between when they arrive and the next time new people arrive. Though that hasn't always been the case, Hinata's noticed.]

[ She nods, letting out a small sigh. She hasn't even been here long and she can definitely see that there will most likely be things happening when people arrive. ]

We can find a way to work around it. Have any of your classmates had trouble adjusting?

Well... [He'd err on the side of caution and say all of them... but only initially.]

At first, I'm sure they were all shocked... but they're pretty good at adapting.

It seems they are. [ The ones she's met so far seem like they've adjusted well at least. ]

...Most of my classmates should be fine as well. [ She hopes. ]

[Hinata nods, thinking about his other classmates now, the ones who aren't here...]

They've got you and Naegi here for them... I'm sure they'll be all right.
