[All right, so it's a few days later than intended, but when the night that you plan a party just completely disappears into a mess of mayhem and murderous Santas, well, you improvise. At least, that's been Komaeda's plan. After making sure to let everyone know about the rescheduling, it's just a matter of coordinating.

So here it is. Here they are.

The decorations -- courtesy of Souda -- are up: streamers, balloons, matching party hats all in varying shades of red, black and white. They're draped around the small apartment along with what is probably an oversupply of party poppers. The food is set out in the kitchen and most everywhere else.

There's even a punchbowl that's probably not spiked yet, but how long can that really last anyway? Music -- somewhat questionable in some of its variety -- plays quietly in the background. And outside the apartment, up on the roof of the building for later, the yakuza have provided some festive explosives fireworks.

Perfect night for a party. And Hinata's the kind of guy who deserves a good party. Right? Right. Only rules are: no murdering anyone and have some fun.]

[Forgive Peko's pause there as she gives Yang a bit of a surprised glance.]

I had never thought of it like that. Though I think... even if it is being used for protection, it can still be used the wrong way.

But it is nice to think about.

If it can be used the wrong way, just make sure you think about the right way when you use it.

[Her rote response is that it wouldn't matter if it's Kuzuryuu giving the order, but then again, she has been trying to remove herself from that mindset, albeit slowly and with very limited success so far.]

...Do you have something you fight for, as well?

[flaredo]

... [ Ah, that. ] I haven't really found my reason for fighting yet... so as someone put it, I'm fighting to figure out why I'm fighting.

But also because if anyone hurts anyone I care about, I want to pay them back triple.

[perfectstrike]

I see.

[Peko twines a bit of hair around one finger as she nods. It's not something she can completely understand, considering she's had her reason for fighting since she was old enough to understand words, but it's something she can understand in theory.]

I think... that is not a bad thing. To decide for yourself what is worth fighting for. It sounds as though you protect those who matter, in the end.

Of course! [ Yang's quick to nod, smiling brightly. ] If the people I care about aren't around, there's something wrong with that.

[perfectstrike]

The people you care about... they are here in the city with you, as well?

[Starting to realize that she doesn't know very much about Yang herself, outside of her general friendliness and awesome gauntlets.]

My sister and one of my teammates and a few friends and my boyfriend, yeah. There are a lot of people here, and I keep finding more every time I go out.

[perfectstrike]

...I see. You must have been very popular at home.

[WHAT'S THAT LIKE... even if all of Peko's classmates all came at the same time, Peko still wouldn't consider herself close to them.]

It is good that you have them here with you. And that you were still able to make time to celebrate with Hinata.

[flaredo]

You're not much different, are you? I mean, you've got a ton of classmates, and here you are!

[perfectstrike]

I... would not say that, no. Before I came here, Hinata was my only friend. The time we all spent together on the island was... too short.

[flaredo]

... You really only had one friend?

[ PEKO.... ]

[A little defensively-]

Is that so surprising? The young master is the heir to the largest yakuza syndicate in Japan. Most did not want to associate with us.

[flaredo]

Then you make them want to associate with you! Branch out, talk to people! Even Weiss could pull it off.

[perfectstrike]

[Have you met her, Yang? Even excusing her yakuza ties, she's still not the best at speaking to people.]

That is more easily said than done. Especially for someone like me.

Someone like you is someone people would want to be friends with. Trust me.

[perfectstrike]

[Peko can think of a lot of ways to refute that -- yakuza, her general personality, her crazy intensity, her poor ability to carry a conversation -- but she just kind of dips her head a little to accept Yang's words for what they are.]

...If you say so. I will try to be the kind of person someone would like to befriend.

[flaredo]

Just keep doing what you're doing-- only with more smiling.

[perfectstrike]

[There's actual genuine concern on her face at that.]
