Well, we gotta go through all the emperors anyway, if we want to get to the One Piece. That's Luffy's intention, to become the Pirate King, and we're along for the ride. [smirks a little] I don't think Law knew what he was getting into, asking Luffy for an alliance, but he's in deep now.

It's fine. [Sayonara... whatever Izanagi is. Yu can keep calling it a "persona", but she still doesn't understand what the heck that is. Such is life.] ... But I'll hold you to that. So you better remember, you'll warn me.

[The "or else" is implied, but not too seriously. She's already seen him summon a persona once, so she'll know what to expect now.]

I've been with Haru, sort of living out of a makeshift shelter for now. His arm was busted up in the flood, but he'll be back to normal in no time, and we'll relocate to another apartment after that. You're welcome to stay with us, but knowing Rin, he'll make you room with him.

and it's like this, seated next to gou (who should've never appeared in tellus at the whims of omniscient beings), that he feels as though he's lost again.

it's irreconcilable.

profiled against the skyline, she's gilded in the kind of visceral, lacerating openness. honesty seeps through her splayed fingers even in assent; there'd been a reason why both mikoshiba brothers fell so hard for her. makoto wholeheartedly believed she could hold her own, didn't necessitate coddling or an overprotective hand. she commanded attention with beguiling sincerity, and it was enough to unmake anyone, makoto included. but it's relieving that even after their world has all but ended, reduced to some ambiguous goal on the horizon, she still managed to hold herself together. ]

How should I phrase this ... um, basically Rin confirmed that a lot of things already happened for him after regionals, but I don't think Haru knows too much about it, either. My guess is that we must've been taken ... earlier than you guys? But Rin clearly remembered us up until the point he woke up on Tellus.

... It sounds silly, right? Maybe it is a memory thing. But I know I wouldn't forget something as important as that if I could do anything about it.

I'm glad you're safe. Rin's on his way here for you now, isn't he? We'll have to help you get settled in, figure out what you want to do while you're here. And get you new clothes, too. Preferably a jacket that won't smell like cardboard.

That's it. That's a key, for one thing. It'll open an apartment somewhere. You get to choose one for yourself. Eventually rent will be do, but they're at least generous enough to give us a little while to get settled in.

That explains the fast reaction. [ Perhaps not the most inconspicuous, but a job well-done is better than a job unseen. Or something like that. It answers that unspoken question about how alone this kid might be here, and that's something of a relief. Rosinante shrugs a little half-heartedly. ]

I came out in one of the dumpsters. There wasn't much worth seeing there, but at least it was less intensive than the games. [ In the battle of garbage vs. memory-ruining ghosts, he'll always opt for the former. Who wouldn't? ]

Maybe I should've been keeping up with current events after all. You don't hear about a worthwhile Pirate King contender every day. [ Or maybe people do hear of it often after he's gone? To get to an Emperor in the first place would take more than a little bit of skill and doing. ] And it might make putting together Law's motives a little less troublesome, too. Something to keep in mind in the future.

[Yeah Guillan is a problem all his own, but where Arles is concerned, he means well, and will do whatever he can not to let him down. Even if it's so hard to stay out of trouble when Arles says things like "don't kill people." How is he even supposed to remember that all the time?]

Right. So we gotta figure out how to get to 'em. They gotta have weaknesses.

[ The only ninjas she knew of were the ones on television or historical artifacts, so she's super curious. ]

[Quatre does feel a bit useless though, but that isn't a bad thing. The fact that someone else has skills better suited to something just means this is working out better than he first expected in those first few moments while he was figuring out what was going on.]

Ah... [That explanation earns a quiet laugh, as he ducks his head.] I suppose that's true. Well whatever you have, thank you. I'll definitely owe you one after this.

[ It's good to know humor is still possible, in such a weird place. Gou can't help but giggle at that. ]

I don't think I can either. But we have to try.

[ But she does sober fairly quickly, nodding in agreement. ]

It is scary to see them again. And to see terrible things happen to your friends and family. That's why it's important to get the memory balls, and avoid the ghosts.

[ Gou manages to sit up a little straighter as she speaks, finding some small amount of energy and putting it into her voice. And just in time too, because another ghost starts drifting their way. ]

[ Ugh. Don't remind her. Gou scowls at him for such rude words, because it shouldn't matter. ]

I managed my swim club, okay?! And they went to Nationals and won there. So being a swim instructor shouldn't be that much different. I can explain how to swim and they can just swim.

[ It doesn't exactly work that way, but she's not really too worried. ]

[ I'm going to die is the first thought that flashes through Gou's head when she sees the ghosts emerge from the walls. Sure, none of them have actually physically harmed her, but those memories were far from pleasant.

She can't even enjoy the utterly ridiculous appearances of the ghosts, beyond a brief, cursory note that they're different from the others. ]

[ Her head still ringing from the whistle and out of breath from her previous exertions, Gou twists and dives for the closest memory ball she can see. ]

[ Rosinante stills immediately. If expressions were a window, it's about where the shutters would have been slammed down. He sure wasn't ready for that namedrop. Part of him wonders if he should have been, just in case. It's not like Doffy was going to fade into obscurity and twiddle his thumbs.

It's not like he doesn't bear a certain responsibility for his brother's future actions, a vice that wraps around his chest and tightens. ]

[Zoro can see the sudden tension. Fortunately, it's easy to assume this guy, like so many, has some kind of bad blood with Doflamingo.]

There's a long story behind it, but the short of it is, we were supposed to get him to step down from the shichibukai in exchange for one of his men. No go, so that's why we were fighting him instead. Before I came here, that is.
