cashew
[His mobility has never been that high, but goddamn, he didn't expect the stupid pastry to try and flatten them! He didn't know his brackets could do this, Cashew!!!
He grabs his sword in both hands as the monster rolls by again and drives it deep into an unfrosted area. The thing screeches again and starts rolling faster, dragging Dotanuki off his feet and into the air.]
It is, but just keep at it!
[When he reaches the apex, he swings up onto the donut and starts dragging his sword through the fried dough, trying to slice a huge chunk of it off.]
no subject
[WHAT THE HELL why is he surrounded by the Truly Reckless...
But Dotanuki seems to know what he's doing (???? possibly) and Kashuu will leave him to it, sliding up behind the donut beast when it starts to take off at surprisingly fast speeds for a pastry. It's a little harder to hack at like this, but he sure is trying. Fried bits of dough are flying off left and right, leaving a messy trail behind that would put any sloppy bakery to shame. It seems like the donut is starting to lose steam, too...! And a lot of jam.]
no subject
He's hacking away at the thick layers of fried spongecake, running along the top to keep from falling to his death. It would really suck to have to explain to Haru why he was broken after all this. As they cut at it, he has to jump over divets and holes, his shoes getting caught up in the red jam mess that's oozing out of the wounds. Thankfully, the donut seems to be slowing down, and its screams are growing more languid as time passes.]
Almost!
[He drives his tachi deep into the creature's side again and then it begins to lean heavily in that direction. The circles it traces are gradually growing wider and the pace far less frenetic. In fact, Dotanuki is scrambling to maintain his footing as it teeters and then begins a slow crash to the ground.]
Shit! Move!
no subject
[And he is indeed scrambling away as quickly as possible... The last thing he wants to do is be crushed by either falling donut, okay. At least he's able to back away in time to avoid any of the pieces of dough as they split off, but there sure is a whole lot of jam everywhere and he's definitely not happy about that. CANDY LAND HELL WAS ENOUGH SUGAR...
Soon enough, it's done crashing down in a pile of jam and sugar and sprinkles (one quite nearly clips his head as it sails by, but he manages to dodge before he can get a confection-induced concussion...) and Kashuu is rushing back to make sure Dotanuki is still in one piece too.]
no subject
He hits something hard with a thump and feel his head swim, but then feels something warm and sticky splash on him. He opens an eye and is disgusted to learn that it's a bunch of jelly bleeding from a massive wound. His head is pounding and he rolls from his side onto his stomach, wincing as he does so.]
Kashuu! [His voice was a lot breathier than he meant it to be. Probably just the wind knocked out of him.] Are you dead?
no subject
[SOUNDING SO INDIGNANT but it's nice of Dotanuki to check... No, Kashuu is more or less in good shape - definitely in the best shape out of the two of them. He's stepping his way through the sticky sludge of jam that the donut has left behind, shaking a few clinging sprinkles from his messy blade as he goes.]
You okay?
[He doesn't sound or look so good, honestly... Beaten by a falling pastry, what a world.
But he'll slog his way over, extending his free hand down to help Dotanuki up if he needs it.]

takeda
Doesn't have to be fast, just has to stick.
[Dotanuki takes a deep breath and looks at Takeda for a moment. Beggars can't be choosers, but can he trust this man? They can't get through the barrage themselves, but maybe his sword can.
Dotanuki unsheathes his tachi and holds it out to Takeda.]
I want you to throw this and stick it into its side.
no subject
[However, his eyebrows raise when the tachi is handed over, taking it with surprising care. He's no stranger to working with swords, considering both the fact that he worked with them at his "job" here and had trained with them back home. His gaze flickers up at their opponent before looking back down at the sword, and he gives a bit of a nod.]
I'll get it there. [The conviction in his voice is hopefully a relief as he starts to wrap one of the whips around the handle, double-checking to make sure it's secure before gripping it properly (well, as properly as he could with a whip wrapped around it, anyway). He's thrown grown men with both whips at once, it shouldn't be too difficult to throw a sword at decent speed.
The monster's winding up for another barrage, and Takeda's eyes narrow as he lets go of the tachi and starts to spin the makeshift whip-sword a couple times to get some momentum going. Satisfied, he lets go with a hard flick of the wrist and immediately pulls the whip back to let the sword fly-
And he's immediately getting out of the way of any further projectiles, glancing back up to see where the sword landed once he has a moment-]
It's in!
no subject
He knows it's hit the target even before Takeda says anything and Dotanuki opens his eyes, letting out a breath he hadn't known he'd been holding. He grabs the saya and then glancs over to where the blade is sunk into the beast's "flesh."]
Good. Take care of my saya and don't freak out.
[He sets the saya down next to Takeda and then-
He's just gone.
A moment later and Dotanuki appears right where the tachi landed in the creature's side. He seems disoriented for a moment, and then he snaps back to reality. It's always a strange experience to demanifest and remanifest so suddenly.
He turns and grabs the hilt of his weapon and turns it, dragging it through the donut's hide. The beast screeches and stops throwing sprinkles for a moment.]
Now!
no subject
Okay, on the sliding scale of weird, when Dotanuki teleports to where the sword landed, that wasn't that bad. Actually, it was sort of impressive. He's dealt with teleportation.
In the meantime, however, he's fastening the scabbard to his waistband to keep it from getting stepped on in the meantime, running in while doing so. At the command, he's already reeling back with the whips, launching himself at the creature with a series of lashes to try and at least cut it down a bit, extending the blades for extra traction as they dug into the thing's ... dough? Skin?
Either way, it's not having a good day right now.]
no subject
It started to roll away and Dotanuki cut a large chunk of it out, tripping it before it could move too far. The beast screeched as whips and blades cut into it, and then heaved itself downward, trying to crush them both.]
Move!
no subject
One recovery roll later, and he's back on his feet, flicking some hair out of his eye as he gives a slight grin.]
Gotta be quicker than that! [Ninjas, man. How do they work.]

vietnam

It is fine, he's resilient, even in death.
[America was so prepared, he was able to contact them even after he left the system. He was right to be paranoid.]
Yes. He still remembered everything, and how he went. I wouldn't call it a second chance, though.
no subject
Why not? If he came back from it, wouldn't that qualify?
no subject
One should think so, but would things ever be that easy for us here? Just look what happened around us.
no subject
I dunno. It was a pretty good fight.

zara
Rabbit?
[Dotanuki steps closer at the sound of the click and relaxes his own grip on his sword. It isn't until the gloom parts that he can see what the guy means - he has rabbit ears.
Despite everything else happening, the sword can't help but stare.]
...Huh, rabbit. Okay then.
[He shakes his head a little and moves his gaze from the ears to the guy's face.]
And I'm not lost, I just don't know this part of town.
no subject
On the other hand, he's not sure what the difference between "don't know where this is" and "lost," is, exactly, but he won't press the issue. Zara looks up at him, then glances to the side, as if surveying the surroundings. ]
... To be perfectly honest, I'm not quite sure, myself. It's difficult to recognize in this darkness.
no subject
Where were you heading before the dark hit?
no subject
[ "probably," because he's no longer certain where he is... but he's hoping he's right. Banking on it, actually. The last thing he needs to do is get even more lost out here when it's potentially dangerous. ]
no subject
Eh, rabbits probably have better senses of direction than swords do, so I guess I'll go by that. So south, huh? I guess that means I probably live that way, too.
[He looks at the sword in the rabbit's hands.]
How good are you at that?
no subject
[ what a Weird and Unusual thing to say!! In any case, Zara is sufficiently distracted by the comment on his own blade to question him further; he follows Dotanuki's gaze down to his cane-sword. ]
Ah... Well, I'm no knight, but I'm decent enough to defend myself.
