Yeah, it was. I just dunno if I would have chose it on my own. [...] But, can't change the past now. In the end, it's helped me survive.

[That's very true. Survival is important if one's to think about a tomorrow, no matter how ugly the yesterday was.]

That's what matters. You've survived, and that means you now have the power to shape your future.

[masakados]

...Right.

[That's what he has this power for... for the future, of his world.] So, we've talked a bit about me, but I still don't know that much about you yet.

[Well, he likes to talk about himself as much as the next person. There doesn't seem to be a good topic for transition, though, so he shrugs.]

What you do where you're from... is a good enough place as any to start.

[Hobbies and occupation!!]

[It's so basic. They have the time, though. Why not?]

I'm a pro duelist. Whenever there's a major tournament in Asia, I attend.

We play Duel Monsters; it's a popular card game in my world. Sorry to say, but I don't fight monsters.

[He needs to clear that up, because people keep getting confused.]

[masakados]

Ohhh. [RECOGNITION.]

I've run into a few of you guys who play that game. It seems pretty fun.

[Most advanced card game he's ever seen.]

[rebelia]

Ah, it's a lot of fun.

[And full of copious amounts of violence and destruction.]

Whom did you run into?

[masakados]

[I mean, as all fun things are wont to be. Violence and, say, explosions are very important.]

Yuya and Yuzu. Just the once, though.

[He's talked to IV more times, go figure...]

[rebelia]

Those two, huh. So you met the livelier bunch . . . Well, it's not surprising that they'd bring up Duel Monsters on their first encounter.

[Naoki probably lucked out there. Those two seem to be more passionate when it comes to discussing Duel Monsters.]

[masakados]

So, you're not all like that?

[FEIGNING SURPRISE with a telling twitch of a grin.]

[rebelia]

[He gives a wide shrug, just as exaggerated to match the feigned surprise.]

Some of us haven't gone to an entertainment dueling school.

[masakados]

Entertainment dueling school? [Naoki echoes.]

There're even schools for it?

[Oh, Naoki. So wonderfully naive.]

All kinds, apparently. But I've never attended; my brother taught me how to play.

[masakados]

[Hey, his specialty is the occult and... well, fighting demons.]

Your brother?

[rebelia]

He's a genius who excels in science and Duel Monsters, although I'm the one who's made a career out of the game. He probably would've been interested in the parasite you mentioned.

[masakados]

[Naoki'd like to meet the scientist who'd be able to figure out the magatama--]

I dunno how much of it is science, but hey, might be cool if he could figure out something about it. [Much of it and, well, his own body is a mystery, even to him.]

[rebelia]

[IV knows even less about it, but V's always had a knack for finding explanations for the strangest things. How different can this be?]

"Science" is a broad field when it comes to V. If he ever shows up, I'll ask him.

[masakados]

[IV and V, huh...]

If nothing else, it'd be interesting.

[rebelia]

[Probably. Maybe V would find it fascinating, even.]

That's my older brother. On the other hand, my little brother is into history.

[masakados]

So you guys are covering a lot between you, huh.

[Are either of them into the occult-- no, he's not going to ask that.]

[rebelia]

[He should definitely ask that.]

We don't step on each other's toes this way. We may be brothers, but we're not exactly alike.

[masakados]

I don't have friends with siblings or anything but... I figured. You're each your own person.

[He grins, shrugging one shoulder.]

[rebelia]

That's right.

[He looks ahead with faint fondness. Out of the three of them, perhaps he's the most different brother.]
