Valentines day hadn’t been anything that he had known about prior to this year. It wasn’t a thing that was celebrated in his own time, but when he found out about it, and how important it was to many couples, he wanted to do something. And there was something he had wanted to ask Botan for a long time.
He was going to propose.
Not the way he had asked her to marry him when she didn’t remember who he was, but properly. But he didn’t know what weddings looked like in a world like this. He had turned to his trusted books, reading up on what a modern proposal and wedding entailed. A ring, he figured out he needed pretty quickly. An engagement ring, it was called. Should they both have one each? And should they be matching? The books only talked about women and rings, and symbolization, but he wanted to show that he belonged to her and no one else. If the ring was a promise, he should be wearing one too. So he got both of them pretty rings, the same kind though it would possibly look a bit out of place on his own hand with how pretty it was, but it was chosen to suit Botan after all.
He had taken the day off from work to make everything perfect. It was nice weather outside, a sheet of snow on the ground. In a park where the snow decorated trees and benches, he cleaned off the snow from the bench and started to set out flowers. He had bought flowers of every kind and shade of pink and purple, He had set up candles, shielded from the wind in their glass lanterns, giving the area an additional glow aside from the street lights.
And come evening, he led Botan to toward the park, making sure she was dressed well enough not to get cold. And with her hand in his, he walked by her side in the guise of an evening stroll. And now that he’s about to ask her, he’s having a hard time keeping the question in until they get to the park. But then the lights and the flowers become visible, and he’s bursting with nerves.

In her free time she had started cooking as well. So even when the other worked late he could find food waiting for him. It had even extended to the point that she learned how to make chocolate. Valentines was a new thing for the shikigami but chocolate seemed the best choice to give someone. So on this day she returned home with a box of some that she made only to be greeted by an excited Hirari. Making sure the box was well hidden in her bag, Botan could only look confused when she was pushed off the get changed.
Changing into a heavier winter kimono, she returned to Hirari's side, following to where ever he seemed to have planned. Her bag still in her hands, she looks around the park. She enjoyed the area, it was always quiet and calm. Though in the distance she notices the flowers and lights. Blinking she looks to Hirari and then back to the scene before her eyes lock onto a very excited Hirari.
"Hirari-dono...did you do all this?" She couldn't hide the excitement in her voice or the blush to her cheeks. It was beautiful...had he taken all day to do this?

When they got to the park, and Botan spoke up about what waited at them there, he made a happy smile, though he had to bite his upper lip not to burst out his question right there before they reached the bench. After a few seconds he could answer without having to be overly sure that it would be the first thing across his lips. "Yeah. I wanted to surprise you."
His smile widened, but the closer they got, the harder it got to not say what he wanted to, and he had to bite his lip again.

As she looked around she could only note how beautiful the area was. The bench was cleared and the flowers were lovely. She wondered if this was something from his books, he must have really wanted her to be surprised then and she was. It was a nice thing to come home to.
When they got closer she held her purse tighter, once they were seated she would give him the chocolates. "It's beautiful, thank you so much. You really out did yourself." At the bench she smiled at him.

"I would do anything if it's for you."
He led her over to the bench, sitting down and urging her to sit next to him. There were flowers around them, taking up some of the bench but leaving enough for both of them to sit comfortably.

"I know...I'm very thankful. It's lovely and very nice to enjoy with you." She chuckled as she sat down next to him. The over abundance of flowers were so like him and his excitement. There were so many, just how much did he buy?
That aside she settles in and places her purse down on the ground for now.

The ring that was in his pocket, and he would need to take his mind off if he wanted to let her settle down first. So instead of letting his hand go into his pocket, he took her hand in his, smiling. He wasn't sure how much longer he could wait now. "I love you Botan. I love you so much."
no subject
"I love you too, Hirari-dono. Today is a day people express their love right?" She had studied a little herself but she was curious if he had and she got her answer with his loving replies. "I'm happy to get to be with you again." Even if he could go overboard sometimes.

And now, he really couldn't stop himself anymore, he was wiggling around next to her too much.
So standing up, he let go of her hand only to kneel in front of her. Digging out the little box in his pocket he reached it out toward her. "So I wanted to ask you something..." His face went red, more red than it had in a long time. He popped the box open, revealing two identical rings. He wasn't aware that there was only supposed to be one. "Will you marry me? Marry me for real?" The words came out of his mouth like a waterfall.

Eyes wide all she did was watch as the box opened and she saw the two rings inside. They were beautiful...both were precious stones and her eyes followed their sparkle. Then, matching his, her face turned a deep shade of red and she looked to his face. Mouth hung open for a moment she didn't know what to say. He had proposed to her before but that had been in a odd way, when they first met. Now it felt so much more meaning full and she had to wait until her brain began to work once again.
"H-Hirari...you're serious?" She knew he was and she had dropped the 'dono' in her surprise. Then she felt her chest hurt a moment and she brought a hand to her mouth. "I'm...not human though...are you really sure?"
no subject
"I know that. I already told you that that isn't going to stop me from loving you." Was she going to say no? Or was it the surprise? He had been confident that she would want to marry him too, but with no answer so far he was getting nervous. He put all his hope and dreams in her, and he wouldn't love anyone the way he loved her. He didn't even want to fall in love with anyone other than her.

Botan can feel his nerves as she looked to the ring. Those words full of love hit her hard and she's left covering her face as she blushes more. He really was the only person that could make her like this. "I...I will...you hopeless man." She was happy and it was hard to hide, though she was now in tears as well. They just started to fall down her cheeks was this what happiness really was.

When her reply came he was overjoyed. He had never been happier than knowing that she wanted to be with him forever. His heart was bursting with emotions, fluttering butterflies in his stomach. When he saw her tears he became worried though, and came closer to gently wipe the tears away. "Are you okay?" He had never seen her cry like this before. But then, she had never said yes to a proposal from him before either.
He wiped the tears away and off her cheeks as they fell, kissing her cheeks. "Are you really okay?"

Botan was overcome with joy it was what caused the tears. She's cried before but this was once again happiness, but this was more that just that. Even as she felt his hands on her cheeks and his question, she placed her hands to his own. Nodding her head up and down she just laughed a little before she closed her eyes and then opened them. Her chest was warm, everything was warm.
"Yes, I'm fine...just...happy? I didn't expect this. You asked me before but never like this."

Matching rings, something that showed that she accepted him to be her future husband. Something that showed that they belonged with each other.

"Here I thought the gift I made for you would be good." She felt a little outdone now.

He picked up her ring, holding it. He couldn't do it the way the did on the TV, but he still guided the ring onto her finger. "It suits you."
no subject
Looking to the ring she can't help but to admire it. "It is really lovely...how did you get these?" She was curious how he got them and was able to remain quiet.
no subject
He lifted up the other ring. "Will you put this on me?" The question made him blush.
no subject
"Okay." Taking the ring in her hand she moved the ring onto his finger. They really did match. "You never stop amazing me."
no subject
"I hope I'll continue to do that for as long as we're together."
no subject
"I doubt that you will ever stop that." Botan then paused for a moment. "Hirari-dono...I need to tell Kagemitsu-dono." There was no way she couldn't tell him.
no subject
He pouted a little at the thought of what Kagemitsu might say though. He knew they would need to tell him of course, he wouldn't want to hide the news to anyone, but he was so annoying when it came to him and Botan. "Of course. ...I can look in your bag first though, right?"
no subject
Botan knows he can be protective but she wants to talk to him. She would want him involved with the wedding. Even if she isn't sure what involved means? Perhaps she will make a video again? People were helpful last time. "Oh, yes of course!"
no subject
And with a smile shot at Botan, he opens the bag.
no subject
Regardless, inside the bag is a box and inside that are small heart shaped chocolates. She worked hard on making them for Hirari. "I hope you like them."
