no objections to parties
Who: The Ace Attorney cast + CR!
When: 4/19, afternoon and evening
Where: The function room of some restaurant in the Shopping District
What: Phoenix Wright, Miles Edgeworth, Klavier Gavin and Ema Skye are celebrating their birthdays in one big bash with all their friends.
Rating/Warning: Nobody’s getting murdered, so just Ace Attorney ridiculousness.
[ It was by sheer coincidence that the month of April had so many birthdays from people from the same world. Which meant that the best solution was to have the largest birthday party of all birthday parties. Or so was Klavier’s thinking. He knew that some part of the population was plagued with some weird disease that caused headache and fever, so the celebration was relatively low key.
But low key for Klavier would still be considered extravagant for others. He took the liberty of renting out a large room in one of Cerealia’s many restaurants and sent an invite to everyone who he could think of was in Cerealia and encouraged them to invite their friends. The more the merrier, as he said.
Because all of the people celebrating had some connection with the law, there was thus an appropriate cake. There was some confusion with the food because instead of ramen and burgers, there were ramen burgers instead being served on trays by waiters. Plus the drinks were unusually glimmerous, to say the least (but non alcoholic, of course.)
Aside from the food, there was music and even a piano in the back in case some people wanted to play. A gift table was set up so that people could leave their gifts, but good luck trying to find it. ]
(( this is an open log so please feel free to make top levels for your characters! if your character knows any of the ace attorney people even by the slightest smidgen, chances are they were invited. or you can gatecrash and nobody would be able to tell. or klavier accidentally texted the wrong number and they got invited. ))

Oh my god, birthday parties aren't supposed to be depressing.
But you know what? Leon could use the distraction of hoping that Trucy or Athena show up, so that's what he's doing. He is not, in fact, in the room with the party itself; he's at the closest table to that room, playing the game of plausible deniability (look! LAWYERING!) that he has nothing to do with this party at all.
Except he has a piece of cake.
And he's staking out the territory for Trucy or Athena, if they show up, or any other fine lady who happens by. (He is sadly unaware that this birthday party is partially being held for a cute girl. If he knew, he'd be in there.)
Of course, he's really obvious in how he's watching the room through the open door and munching on cake, soooooo.]

Awww, Mr. Kuwata! I'm glad you're here. Couldn't help but wish the old man a happy birthday, huh?
no subject
You ain't my old man! Ugh . . . is it seriously your birthday?
no subject
But that doesn't make me any less of an old man, does it?
And you're right! Thanks for remembering, Mr. Kuwata. ...Well, to be exact, it was sometime earlier this month. Can you guess the day?
no subject
What, is it somethin' weird? Like a holiday? Golden Week's not for a couple weeks.
no subject
It could be. But in this case, I'd say the day is more foolish than weird....

[It's not as much of a thing in Japan as it is in Japanifornia, but it's not like it's not a thing at all. Aha! Mystery solved! Probably.]
—Dude, why're you proud of that?
[That's a different mystery.]

Hey there!
no subject
You gotta warn me before you do that! Uh, happy birthday? You're not one of the birthdays, right?
no subject
No way, stuff like that's supposed to be a surprise! And my birthday's long over, but thanks, anyway!
I can't believe I'm 19 now... I'm so old!
no subject
[Being 19 still feels pretty fucked up, actually, but that's not something that's easy to talk about. At least he hasn't got a pure heart, so physically, he's doing just fine. He does notice, though . . . ]
You okay? I didn't pull that hard!
no subject
[ ah... she's still fixing her hair, but she's flattered that leon's concerned. ]
I'm just feeling a bit under the weather, that's all.
no subject
[He doesn't move away from her, but maybe now's not the best time to get much cozier with her, either . . . ]

Heeeey, Leon! Fancy seeing you here!
[Just because he's surprised doesn't mean he's not pleasantly surprised!]
Didja come to celebrate Nick's birthday? Or didja get an invite from Trucy?
[As far as he knows, Phoenix is the only one being celebrated that Larry knows Leon knows, so...]
no subject
[Larry is allowed. He's cool. He's also not anyone's dad, and literally everyone in this restaurant is grateful for that, surely. Leon grins back at him—for a second his eyes flick to the ramen burger, but that can wait like two seconds.]
Aaactually, I was hopin' I'd run into Trucy . . . heh! She's gotta be around somewhere!
[Okay that's enough not talking about the burger.]
—I've never seen one o' those in real life! I just went straight for the cake! I've gotta try it.
no subject
Ohhh, so you're crashin' the party, then. I like your style! Though you coulda just asked me for an official invite, ya know.
[This is probably going to get awkward if people are listening in and hear about Larry's guesses. Oops.
But Leon takes Larry's thoughts off of that for a moment by bringing up the ramen burger. With a smile, he holds it up so Leon can get a better look.]
Pretty impressive, right? You'd think the combo wouldn't work, but it's totally delicious!
no subject
[And those are already a problem. But ohhhh man. That looks incredible. Leon glances at his plate of cake . . . and the siren call of cake just can't compare to the siren call of beef. He gets up from his chair, eyes on the prize.]
I'm doin' this! This is my time! Be riiiight back!
no subject
[He's only a few bites in though, so who knows what could end up happening later. Those tightly-packed noodles can't hold the entire time, can they...?
But wow, that didn't take much persuading at all! Larry gives Leon a knowing nod, leaning back to enjoy his own burger while Leon heads off for his.]
A wise choice, dude. That cake might be tasty, but it doesn't hold a candle to these bad boys.

Still, he can't help but think Leon looks suspicious, standing just outside of the room like that and peering in every so often. When he catches the stranger in the act a third time, Apollo folds his arms over his chest and raises his brows questioningly.]
If you're looking for someone, wouldn't it be easier to spot them while you're in the room?
no subject
. . . But wait, what does he have to be guilty for? He's got a very good reason for this!]
Dude, if I hang out in there, Trucy's Dad is totally gonna corner me and start harassing me about being my "life coach" again or somethin'. No thanks!
[Anyone who knows Trucy's Dad can understand that, right? Leon rubs at the back of his neck with a sheepish grin.]
no subject
[While Apollo can sympathize with Leon about being harassed by a certain Dad, he also knows Mr. Wright wouldn't be cornering just anyone when it comes to Trucy.
Sorry, Leon, you might have escaped the Dad for now, but you're getting the Brother this time--even if he doesn't know it yet.]
no subject
[He says, much like a man stepping off a pier for a nice leisurely swim, unaware of the sharks circling 20 feet underwater.]
no subject
Does that mean you're dating her here?
[Totally, deceptively calm.]

OH MAAAAAAN! SHE'S EVEN CUTER THAN LAST TIME. HOW CAN THIS BE?!
Leon perks right up (figuratively. he's not that bad, okay) and lifts a hand to wave to her, grinning. Aw yes. He feels a bit better now having seen her.]
Yoooo, Trucy! Yeah, you could say that . . . I mean, I dunno how much I'd fit in at a party for your dad, y'know? But I was hopin' I'd run into you!
