//event011.EXE The Gifts that Keeps on Giving ((You)) Nightmares It's been a whole month without any new arrivals. Who knows why? If you ask CERES, they won't bother with any in-depth explanations. They will simply claim that none of the code out there has been responding to their recovery methods, so they had to rework a lot of their technology. However, after several weeks of grueling work, they have finally experienced success! A fresh new batch of faces is coming in, and to celebrate their arrival and the real upcoming holidays, CEO Julius Vincere has arranged for a Christmas-themed carnival for all to enjoy. Those who arrive will wake up in Cerealia and be given a long, boring explanation and powerpoint as per usual before being ushered onto a bus (there is no escape. The robots will force you onto the bus one way or another). You will be unwillingly carted to the theme park where you will be immediately assaulted by a giant array of lights followed by several rides that you can enjoy. After you disembark from the bus, one of the snowman robots will be waiting to give you tickets to the rides and show you around as part of the Grand Opening. The amusement park will remain open for the rest of the month of December so anyone can visit as they please. The first couple tickets will also be on the house for new arrivals, but the rest will have to be bought with credits, so choose wisely! //SCENARIOS.EXE PHASE I [ xxxx ] Do you like ferris wheels? This is an enchanting one where you get to ride around in a giant snowflake at a very limited speed. The wheel will turn excruciatingly slow before stopping abruptly, leaving you trapped at the very top. We hope you're not afraid of heights because you're going to be in there for a while! The windows on the snowflake will rapidly darken leaving you and your fellow riders trapped in the darkness. At that moment, you will feel something warm breathing down your neck and along the back of your ear. As you reach over, you'll feel like the chair underneath you is made of snakeskin, and a hissing sound will intensify as the "chair" squirms and as the breathing gets louder and hotter. Scrabble at the doors, fight your way out! Will you escape or not? Probably not, but the experience will last only a good five minutes before the lights come back on and before the ferris wheel starts moving again. The chair will appear as normal, and there will be no one else inside except any fellow riders who came with you. PHASE II [ xxxx ] If the ferris wheel didn't "do it" for you, then perhaps a fun house will? If you're a fan, that is! This Christmas-themed funhouse features a wonderful walk through a snowy forest convered in singing reindeer. The more you walk through, the more you will notice things like within the distorted mirrors, there will briefly appear strange specters. You will also hear a bunch of howling in the background, and while you may think that you're safe since they're trapped behind a mirror, you are very wrong. The lights will go out once more, and you will hear the mirrors shatter all around and feel yourself being grabbed and hurled to the ground. Whatever is coming for you is something you can't see, but it's advancing fast with impressive strength to hurl you back once more. You will feel pain erupt through your body before an engineer will appear to get the lights back on. Once they're back on, the reindeer will be happily singing, and all the mirrors will appear as they were before -unbroken. PHASE III [ xxxx ] After those interesting adventures, another option would be to simply visit the rocking santacoaster, a large, sprawling roller coaster that reaches 150 mph. You will be strapped into a sled and be shot through the tracks where you can scream and cry all you want except once you reach the tunnel, everything will come to a sudden stop (whiplash pending). You and the other riders will be in there for a few minutes, surrounded by a dozen santas as they start to fly out from the tunnel walls, carrying swords and swooping down to take a swipe at you. You better duck or be prepared to be cut up by their blades. The rollercoaster will abruptly resume, and when you reach the end, you might notice some bleeding, a little bit of hair missing, or some clothes shred up. If you ask the snowman robots about it, they will just shrug and claim they don't know what you're talking about. Please go enjoy a snowcone on the house! PHASE IV [ xxxx ] The Christmas whirl will be your last stop for the evening! This is a ride that goes round and round and round while tilting. Everyone will be strapped into it while standing up and forced to hold on as it spins, and somewhere in the midst of the spinning, the ride will suddenly malfunction. Yes, big surprise there! But it won't stop spinning. It will just be a rockier ride, and you will seemingly enter a new space where you will be among the stars and seeing planets all around you. Your own home planet will be amongst them before it breaks open like an egg and out crawls a friendly visitor. If you get bit by it, you will spend the rest of the day and night experiencing an array of possible symptoms, including: a voracious appetite, a fear of light, the urge to 'mate' with anyone who smells especially good, heightened senses, the ability to climb on all kinds of surfaces, irritability and crankiness... (( you don't have to experience them all. you can pick and choose which one you like. )) BONUS [ whyo'clock ] What's that jingling you hear in the background? Why, it's Santa Clause! Coming here all the way from the North Pole. The park will stop, and all the snowman robots will gather in the square, ushering along as many people as possible. Santa-Bot X-3 will be seated on his chair to welcome all visitors to sit on his metaphorical lap and tell him what they want for Christmas. He will then give them a nicely wrapped present and tell them that it's exactly what they asked for, but they can't open it until they get home. For those who can't wait and choose to open it quickly, they will get some nice treats from Mundus Caelestis. But beware! Those who do take this gift home will experience a weird after-effect as the lovely red and white toy will come to life on its own and hop out of the box that evening to try and violently electrocute the owner. The other one is completely harmless. [ Remember to apply proper warnings on threads with trigger-y or inappropriate material and do let a mod know if your thread careens off into maiming or canoodling so we can lock the log. ]

[She's fully aware she'll probably hear his complaints about her getting the dragon spit all over his leather later, but right now, she doesn't care.

When his voice shakes, she only clings to him harder, understanding exactly how he feels. She hated being afraid, but this place unnerved her beyond belief. She didn't know if their home was really gone, and she didn't want to believe it. But regardless of it's state, she was pulled from her home and trapped here, with no idea if anyone she cared about was even still alive. But Hiccup's here and that's the biggest relief.

His words do get a laugh, a shaky one at that, but a laugh all the same.]

You know, I wouldn't worry so much if you weren't always getting yourself into trouble. [She jokingly gives him a stern look, but a smile replaces it quickly, even if it turns a bit uneasy.]

[ to that, haru has a few replies on the tip of his tongue varying from 'i don't care' to 'i thought it was to scare people' -- the latter of which is more a point of contention than he's willing to broach. it all seems rather pointless since any moment he'll roll out of his bed, tangled in sheets and sweat and a myriad of expectations equally as unpleasant. by comparison, this is perhaps preferred.

even if talking to strangers -- talking in general -- isn't his favorite.

haru picks up on the sharp underlay to the other's tone however, and it's this which prompts him to finally look up properly. again his attention catches on the hair, then the corner of an eye, then the mouth -- places of tension for people, telltales. maybe it's rude to stare; but even if it is, haru only stops when he bothers to stand, flickers of discomfort rippling through him in protest.

for a place with such a dead boring introduction, it's been a touch too exciting for his tastes otherwise. dusting his hands off with little effect, haru sighs. ]

GET ON THE BUS AND RIDE IT CHOO-CHOO

[ Levi won't fight the flow as people pile onto the bus, flopping down beside some poor soul and looking fairly sour. That presentation had been even worse than sitting through long-winded nobles at their military galas to raise money and interest in the Survey Corps, but at least he could rudely tune them out. Then he's shuffled right onto this... thing? Some sort of automated and oversized carriage? Vehicles don't exist where he comes from and he's distrustful of anything that moves on its own. How is it expected to move without horses? How many horses would even need to slave over something of this size, with this many people?

But he's a good sport. He'll play along, confident in his ability to act on a moment's notice if any trouble goes down and he's already eyeballed the emergency exits and figured out how to work them in the bus, ensuring his concealed knives are all still on him. The 3D maneuver gear he'd arrived with is a pain to carry around without its proper case, but he's rolling up the leather straps as the bus revs to life and they're on their way, metal casings filled with blades between his knees and motor in his lap. It took time to pack his gear up, and he'd have to find a case for it eventually, but for now, he gets one belt around the two cases, attaches the motor, and has made himself something of an improvised package to heft over his shoulder like some old school book bundle.

What his neighbor may make of it is another story, and he'll steal a glance over from under heavy brows, nearly daring them to ask a question. ]



PHASE III

[ That ferris wheel contraption looked lame. The fun house? Absolutely not fun. But the rollercoaster seems promising. Interesting. The "bus" had been novel enough, but look at this big ass motherfucker. Those tracks seemed unreal, but he watches a couple rounds and the wagons never fell off, so why not give it a go? He'll be queueing up in line and offering up his heart ticket to ride.

Anyone who gets seated beside him will be thankful come time those santas are flying in with blades, because he can at least offer some protection and deflect them! ]



PHASE IV & BONUS

[ Well. He didn't learn his lesson from the rollercoaster, and here he is using up his last ticket on this weird bullshit. This one seems safer. No tunnels to go in, nowhere for flying santas with swords to hide. Just good clean gravitational fun.

This sweet summer (man)child has yet to learn just what sort of place this is, but he'll be a good deal more wary after this introduction. He can't recognize his world from such a high and grand view; there are no known images or maps of the world beyond the walls, and the walls encased such a small fraction of the planet's surface. Maybe if he had looked closer he'd see those three circular walls raised up on one of the continents, but he didn't care to even try. What's more interesting (or attention-getting, in any case) is that spider breaking free from the tiny planet and coming towards him, where he's strapped into the snowflake ring.

Levi curses and spits and kicks, but he can't stop the spider's advance. It'll sink its mandibles into his thigh and it would've felt like some bizarre fever dream once the strange scenery fades away and the ride comes to a stop, attendants coming around to unstrap everyone in the ring. But his leg still aches, hot and swelling where the spider had bit him with spots of blood showing up stark on white denim. He's stumbling by the time snowbots are ushering him towards Santa and he's obtained his stupid present with a muttered appeasement, which he holds onto but doesn't bother opening.

He's already an irritable person. But his senses are sharpening, everything too loud and too bright and every brush of a passerby nearly painful in his sensitivity to touch, and some of the people he's passing smell too damn good.

He'll just. Be going over here and try to be alone, in some quiet and dark corner of the park. Or make his way back to the bus, hoping to sit it out and be on their way back home sooner rather than later. Has this been an awful night? Yes it has. Has it been the worst of his life? No, not by a long shot. ]

[ After experiencing all of the "fun" the amusement park offered, Erwin was glad to board the bus once again and make his way to what will be his new home. He sat alone on the bus, going over the day's events in his head, the things he learned about modern conveniences from the young man he met on the first bus - it was all overwhelming, still is, especially considering where Erwin had been shortly before finding himself in Cerealia.

His mind was still on Eren's safety, on the titan shifters, still on where he should be instead of where he's going and what he'll do now that he's stuck here.

He'll get a job - a history teacher is what he chose - following in the footsteps of his father now that he'll no longer be commanding the Survey Corps. The fact that he doesn't know what sort of history he'll be teaching is irrelevant. He'll find a place to live, adjust to a normal life that is far outside of his comfort zone. Erwin hasn't had a normal life since childhood, hasn't been able to experience true freedom at all in his lifetime, and now that he (seemingly) has it, he's not sure what to do.

Standing quietly against the wall of the bus station after stepping off of the bus, moving out of the way of the small crowd of people, he wonders if there's any way to get in touch with his soldiers, with the people he was forced to abandon. Highly unlikely, but he'd like to try... or skip over that completely and return to the battle he needs to be fighting.

It's not too long after he exits the bus that he sees a familiar sight. The stature, build, haircut, and clothing are unmistakable - there is no way that the person a few yards in front of him is anybody other than his Captain. Pushing away from the wall, Erwin quickly passes through a sea of strange faces to catch up to the other man. ]

still, he can be found wandering the park, watching the rides with frank admiration--isn't it amazing how times have changed since he was forged?--and exploring the various offerings. he's.. pretty hard to miss, really, given that he's sort of cotton-candy-colored and carrying a sword. he's also seemingly interested in everything, and if someone seems approachable enough, he might very politely ask about.. the robots or the rides or the food or basically anything he's currently puzzled about. take your pick tbh.

[ he still doesn't quite understand this holiday. there's an awful lot of red involved, and apparently presents are somehow a part of it, but that's about the extent of his understanding. his first thought upon receiving a gift of his own is to deny it, of course, because surely it's a mistake-- he's a sword. swords aren't supposed to be given frivolous gifts, and it reminds him a little too much of belonging to some of his less fondly-remembered owners. still, it looks like everyone is receiving something, regardless of who or what they are, so souza doesn't protest. perhaps someone else will like.. whatever this is.

(well, sayo couldn't any longer, anyway.) --if he opens it to check its contents, he could always re-wrap it later, couldn't he? and who knows, if it really is something he especially likes, perhaps he'll keep it.

heaving a sigh, he carefully works open the paper and lid.. and then freezes, blinking down at its contents in baffled surprise. what..?

he pauses, then lifts the striped shaft out of the box, tilting it this way and that, brows lifting as he tries to imagine what it might be for. giving up, he at last turns to someone nearby, head tilting faintly, mismatched eyes surprisingly innocent for someone waving around a dildo. ]

The ferris wheel was the choice ride for Judai. Being slow and less frequented by people were also good, but so was the height advantage that came along with it. And places high above in the sky were exactly where he loved to sleep.

With his head leaning against the window, Judai napped, along with his cat who found a place to curl up in his hair, until their cabin made a stop at the very top of the ride. It was then when things started to get shaky. But despite the possible grievances his fellow passenger might have voiced, he did not wake up until he felt the vibration from his seat. With his eyes now shot open, he silently took in his unnaturally dark surroundings and finally decided to teeter his entire torso down to the surface of his seat.

He turned on his back, letting the strange movements ripple against his body. The cat, Pharaoh, followed suit. ]

[Yuzu is just staring up at this guy in the tree. Why are there so many crazy people at this carnival? Why does this one look vaguely familiar? those test drive memory suppressants are a hell of a drug. She's tempted to just keep walking, but... the weird snowbots have guns, she's honestly a little worried about what will happen if he's spotted up there. So she'll just call up.]

[ Blue haired giant coming through. He is just totally fascinated with everything here, don't mind him. He might just stare at a time at things trying to contemplate on going on a ride or not. Everything certainly has changed since his time of use and being forged. His sage's world is fascinating if this is what lies within it. He'll be perusing the stands silently as he's kinda easy to pick out. He sticks out like a sore thumb tbh. Long blue hair down to the ground and six feet in height. Not to mention he's traditional priest robes and sword hanging by his side. He sure looks like an attraction but he's not, really! ]

Phase iv:

[ This ride didn't look too bad. So he might take his chances and go on it. But boy he was wrong and he's totally out of place since the spinning really doesn't...get a reaction from him. Kousetsu will probably not know what the hell just happened but in any case he will have protected anyone he could have from one of those spider bites, because that's how he rolls. This place is terrifying and amazing all at once. The elder Samonji is just perplexed and marveling at the sounds and lights. All of them are bright, cheerful, far more upbeat for a man such as himself to be attending, but here he is. His hand is wrapped in a makeshift bandage as he sits among the carnival's food stands with a boat load of food. He's kinda hungry okay? Don't judge him! The tall sword will be silently munching away at food as he looks around for familiar faces. He distinctly remembers being here before and meeting a few people. You can just pop in to say hello, I guess? His face is kinda dour but he's totally nice. ]

[ This gift sure was...interesting. What in the world does he do with it? It's too small to really be anything useful he can't find any shred of reason to keep it. He's just sort standing there looking at it like it's some kind of alien creature that's just sprung out of it's host. This place...it was strange and unusual and he's not sure what to do about this. Maybe he could just...give it someone better suited to use it? This holiday was about giving gifts right? Surely someone else might want this as a gift. I'll admit that were I come from, it's not as updated as this place. We do have robots, but they're not running all over the place. Only the really privileged or those who work for the government would have access to more advanced technology.

The average person wouldn't need anything so high-tech anyway. A regular phone is enough for anyone to get by. [ He unfolds his CereVice and scrolls through all of it's functions. He doesn't have his old cellphone to compare this communication device to, but it was broken anyway. They never did give him a replacement. ] Still, for a guy like me, I really like these kinds of things. Seeing the things here makes me think how lame some of the things back home are.
